TDI-Brooks' Retrofitted Vessel Arrives to US for Offshore Wind Work

TDI-Brooks' latest dynamic positioning vessel, the RV Nautilus, has reached the shores of the East Coast of the United States ahead of work for offshore wind sector.After undergoing a six-month retrofit in Las Palmas, the 2000-built vessel will be put to work to provide support for offshore wind projects and various other subsea needs.With the length of 75-meters, the DP2 vessel is equipped with advanced technology, including a Geomil Manta-200 CPT that can be deployed through the mid-ship moonpool.The system can penetrate the soil up to 40-50 meters…

Surya Nautika Orders Four Crew Boats from Strategic Marine

Singaporean shipbuilder Strategic Marine on Tuesday announced it secured a four-vessel crew boat order from Malaysian operator Surya Nautika.Slated for delivery to the licensed Petronas contractor progressively from the first quarter of 2023, the newbuilds will be Strategic Marine's 40-meter Gen3 Fast Crew Boat (FCB) designed by Southerly Designs of Australia in collaboration with Strategic Marine, with bespoke layout and features for Surya Nautika.The new vessels will feature a remote-controlled water monitor with a capacity of 1200m³/hr…

ICCB Orders Landing Craft for Offshore Energy Projects

Dublin-based Irish Commercial Charter Boats (ICCB) has ordered a bespoke 12-meter landing craft to support a wave of offshore energy projects on the horizon. The Chartwell Marine-designed vessel will be built at the Arklow Marine shipyard starting this month for schedule delivery in summer 2021.With a number of large-scale energy projects coming to Irish waters, the aluminum vessel has been developed to meet ICCB’s expanding operational requirements, including surveying, assisting with cable landing and transporting supplies and personnel to near-shore offshore installations.

CWind Expands Offshore Vessel Fleet

UK-based offshore support services provider CWind has signed a long-term charter deal with Dalby Offshore for several offshore vessels that will support offshore wind farms in the UK North Sea.The deal will see CWind immediately add four new vessels to its fleet with the option of an additional two vessels later in the year.Also, CWind said it that supported throughout negotiations by vessel procurement advisor Colebrook Offshore, It has already chartered some of the new vessels…

KOTUG Adds Fifth Infield Support Vessel

Towage operator KOTUG said it has acquired a fifth infield support vessels (ISVs) in Australia and East Timor, furthering its investment in offshore support. The new vessel, Coral Knight, will be bare boat chartered exclusively to Australian Maritime Systems Limited (AMS) to provide emergency towage services and maintain aids to the navigation network at the Great Barrier Reef for AMSA (Australian Maritime Safety Authority). KOTUG said it acquired the Coral Knight with a view to further expand its offshore support services in the Australian region.

Southern Exposure: Wilson Sons' Sergio Guedes Talks Towage

The influx of ships and rigs sailing into and out of Brazilian ports since the discovery of large pre-salt plays off Brazil in 2007, and the opening of new ports and shipyards during the past decade has led to a sharp increase in towing operations in Brazil. MR spoke to Sergio Guedes, Director of Operations at Wilson Sons Towage, about the towage and salvage markets in Brazil. Wilson Sons Group is one of the largest integrated operators in port and maritime logistics in Brazil. The company has more than a century of experience and is also present in shipbuilding and offshore support services. Its towage fleet is present in ports all along Brazil’s lengthy coast.

Damen Bags Jack-up Pontoon Contract

Damen Shipyards Sharjah (DSS) in the United Arab Emirates has won a contract to build a shallow draught, self-propelled Jack-up Pontoon 3526 for the UAE-based contractor Aqua Diving Services Ltd. Once delivered, it will be used primarily to deliver offshore support services, including the provision of accommodation facilities for personnel as well as operating as a work platform with crane facilities. Aqua Diving Services (ADS) has specifically designed the Jack-up for Middle East operations and is closely cooperating with Damen Shipyards Sharjah for the construction of the unit. The jack-up, which will be named the Aqua Rise III and will have accommodation for up to 128 personnel with a 350m² of deck space and two cranes, rated at 75 and 15 tonnes respectively.

Blue Brother Supply Vessel Launched

A new launch for Vittoria Shipyard in Adria (Italy). The ceremony for Blue Brother took place in the waters of the Canalbianco-Po River. The supply vessel will be leased out to Bambini di Ravenna, which is one of the most important maritime transport companies in Italy, specialized in providing offshore support services. The new vessel is property of the shipowning company Adriese di Navigazione, which is also the holding company of the group the Vittoria Shipyard belongs to. Both the “Adriese” and “Vittoria” firms have the same shareholding group, which is controlled by the Duò family.

Keppel Secures $125 mln Repeat Contracts

Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M)'s local and overseas subsidiaries continue to win strong support from repeat customers by securing four contracts worth a total of about S$125 million. In Singapore, Keppel O&M's wholly-owned subsidiary Keppel Shipyard Ltd (Keppel Shipyard) secured two conversion contracts - the first is for a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Floating Storage Unit (FSU) vessel awarded by Armada Floating Gas Storage Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bumi Armada Berhad (Bumi Armada); the second is for a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel awarded by Yinson Production (West Africa) Pte Ltd (Yinson), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Yinson Holdings Berhad. Work on the LNG FSU conversion for Bumi Armada is scheduled to be completed in 3Q 2016.

Milaha Appoints New President & CEO

Qatar Navigation (Milaha), a leader in marine transportation offshore support services, port management and logistics services, has appointed Abdulrahman Essa Al-Mannai as its president and chief executive officer. He will succeed Khalifa Ali Al-Hetmi, who had previously announced his plan to retire. Al-Mannai previously led the commercial planning and allocation functions at Qatargas. Having spent his career with Qatargas, he has overseen many areas, including the commercial function of UK’s South Hook LNG Terminal, which is Europe’s largest LNG regasification terminal and handles a significant percentage of the UK’s gas requirements.

Milaha CEO Al-Hetmi to Step Down

Milaha president and CEO, Khalifa Ali Al-Hetmi, will retire in September, the Qatar-based marine transport and logistics conglomerate announced. Having joined Milaha 31 years ago, Al-Hetmi has been at the helm of Milaha for the past seven years. During his tenure as CEO, he oversaw the strategic acquisition of Qatar Shipping and Halul Offshore Services in 2010, and was responsible for the subsequent transformation of the newly created group and the launch of the Milaha brand in 2011.

Damen Stan Pontoon 9127 for Ocean Koper

Ocean Koperd.o.o, a member of the Ocean Team headquartered in Trieste, Italy, will strengthen its fleet with the addition of a Damen Stan Pontoon 9127. The contract, signed on June 24, is for the largest pontoon in the region, and certainly in the Adriatic Sea, the builder noted. This will be the second barge purchased by Ocean Koper from Damen. The towage company that provides offshore support services was established in 2005 and acquired the P9 barge, a Damen Stan Pontoon 7524, in 2010. Ocean Koper’s current fleet consists of two Anchor Handling Tugs, two tugs that are regularly involved in short-sea-towage-operations and two cargo barges. There were a number of reasons why Ocean Koper decided to return to Damen, with a specific benefit being on stock availability.

Fourth Vessel Joins Topaz Energy ERRV Fleet

Topaz Energy and Marine, a leading offshore support vessel company, has bolstered its Emergency Response and Recovery Vessel (ERRV) fleet with the addition of a new vessel, Topaz Responder. The newly-built, state-of-the-art Topaz Responder will primarily provide safety support to offshore installations but is versatile enough to also provide general offshore support services. Constructed to the highest standards, the vessel was built in the ship building yard by Topaz Energy and Marine’s sister company, Topaz Engineering, in Mussafah, Abu Dhabi. Topaz Energy and Marine’s Board of Directors, led by Chairman Samir J. Fancy and Chief Executive Officer René Kofod-Olsen, recently attended the naming ceremony to mark the official launch of Topaz Responder.

Repasa Puts New Stan Tugs to Work

On October 13, Repasa's ASD Tugs assisted the berthing of a LNG tanker with great success. Yesterday the two Damen Stan Tugs 1606, outfitted as line handling boats, sailed to the buoy to receive another tanker for their first mission in Equatorial Guinea. For Repasa, this is a successful start of its new joint venture with P&O Maritime. The Damen Stan Tugs 1606, Red Ant and Red Bee, are the first Damen builds in Repasa’s fleet of workboats which also includes AHT and ASD tugs.

Singapore's Ezra Holdings Profits Rocket

Ezra informs that it has sustained another quarter of growing revenues and improving operating performance with fiscal 9M 2014 revenues crossing the US$1 billion mark. Ezra, a leading contractor and provider of integrated offshore solutions to the oil and gas (O&G) industry, adds that it achieved a record revenue of US$1 billion for the nine months ended 31 May 2014 (“9M14”), a 24% increase from US$842.9 million in the previous corresponding period (“9M13”). Revenue for the three months ended 2014 (“3Q14”) has also outperformed previous year (“3Q13”), increasing 27% to US$402.1 million. Adjusted EBITDA for the Group grew 144% to US$125.4 million and adjusted profit after tax turned from a loss of US$43.5 million in 9M13 to a profit of US$25.0 million in 9M14.

Ezra to Consolidate EMAS Marine into EOC

Ezra Holdings Limited today announced plans to consolidate its Offshore Support Services division, EMAS Marine, into its associated company, EOC Limited, which is listed on the Oslo Børs, Norway. Upon completion of the transaction, the enlarged EOC Group will be one of the largest offshore support operators in Asia Pacific by asset value, managing an offshore services platform comprising over $1 billion in offshore support assets. Its diverse and versatile fleet of 50 offshore vessels is among the youngest in the region. The fleet has a combined bollard pull of almost 4,000 tons, more than 37,000 dwt and a total of almost 350,000 BHP, making it one of the strongest and most powerful in the region, with capabilities to operate globally at ultra-deep water depths.

OceanGate & Global Diving Sign Strategic Agreement

OceanGate Inc., supplier of manned submersibles says it has made a strategic agreement with Global Diving & Salvage Inc., provider of marine construction & offshore support services in the United States, and an internationally recognized marine casualty responder. Under the agreement, both companies will pursue new sales opportunities by endorsing and utilizing each other's services and products. Global Diving & Salvage will be OceanGate's exclusive manned diving and salvage partner, and OceanGate will be the sole supplier to Global Diving & Salvage of manned submersible solutions. The agreement covers the East and West coasts of the United States, Alaska and Hawaii, and the Gulf of Mexico.
