Kirby Corporation (“Kirby”) (NYSE: KEX) has announced net earnings attributable to Kirby for the second quarter ended June 30, 2019 of $47.3 million, or $0.79 per share, compared with earnings of $28.6 million, or $0.48 per share, for the 2018 second quarter. Excluding a one-time charge related to the retirement of Kirby’s Executive Chairman, 2018 second quarter net earnings attributable to Kirby were $46.8 million, or $0.78 per share. Haugsdal to Take Over as Kongsberg Maritime Head

Egil Haugsdal has been selected to take over as President of Kongsberg Maritime. Haugsdal holds extensive leadership experience from KONGSBERG, currently leading Kongsberg Oil & Gas Technologies, with previous experience as Executive Vice President of Business Development and as President of Kongsberg Protech Systems. Haugsdal will assume his new position after a short period of overlap with current president Geir Håøy, who will assume the position of CEO of KONGSBERG in June 2016. “I am delighted with the confidence I have been given,” Haugsdal said.

Freeport Says Indonesia Exports Could Resume Soon

Freeport-McMoRan Inc said on Wednesday it expects to "imminently" sign an agreement with Indonesia that would enable it to immediately resume copper concentrate exports which have been halted for more than six months. Freeport said on July 8 it had agreed on a draft memorandum of understanding but had not signed it. At the time, it gave no time frame on when it would resume exports. Indonesia introduced a mineral ore export ban and a steep export tax in January. The gold and copper miner also reported second-quarter results on Wednesday that were little changed from a year-ago. "It is a compromise to create a bridge for us so that we can return to normal operations," Chief Executive Richard Adkerson said of the MoU on a call with analysts and investors.

Gulf of Mexico Recruiters Step Up Efforts

OilCareers.com has  released statistics suggesting that staff roles offered by employers in the Gulf of Mexico have increased almost sixteenfold in the last three years. Statistics show that the margin between contract and staff positions that reflected an equal split in 2009 now reveal a shift to five times as many staff than contract roles equating to 80% of job types currently registered on OilCareers.com. BOEM $249,000 Grant for Louisiana Pump Station

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management Regulation and Enforcement (BOEM) announced it has approved a grant for $249,000 to St. James Parish in Louisiana through the Coastal Impact Assistance Program (CIAP), for the second phase of a project to construct a waterline booster pump station along LA Highway 44 in Convent, La. Created by the Energy Policy Act of 2005, CIAP provides funding to the six Outer Continental Shelf oil and gas producing states to conserve and protect the coastal environment. CIAP is an ongoing program with grant funding that is allocated based on the offshore energy revenues collected by the United States. “BOEM will continue to work with the state of Louisiana and its parishes on important coastal restoration efforts through the CIAP program…
