Santos Selects Altera for Dorado FPSO FEED

Australian oil and gas company Santos has awarded the FEED contract for the FPSO for the Dorado project offshore W. Australia to Altera Infrastructure.Located in the Bedout Sub-basin, Dorado is an oil and gas project which is planned to be developed in two phases. The initial development involves the production of oil and condensate through a wellhead platform (WHP) and FPSO. Gas will be reinjected in the initial phase to enhance oil and condensate recovery, followed by a planned future phase of gas production to backfill Santos’ domestic gas infrastructure in WA.According to Santos…

Bumi Armada Berhad Names Its News FPSO

Bumi Armada Berhad, Malaysia-based international offshore energy facilities and services provider celebrated the naming ceremony of the Armada Olombendo Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) last weekend. Armada Olombendo FPSO represents Bumi Armada’s largest FPSO and it will operate in Angola on Block 15/06, East Hub, a wide area of 2,984 square-kilometer (km2) in the Angolan deep offshore, located approximately 350 km northwest of Luanda and 130 kilometer west of Soyo.

Dyna-Mac to Build FPSO Topsides for Armada Cabaca

Dyna-Mac has secured a Letter of Award (LoA) from Armada Cabaca Ltd. worth approximately $48 million (USD) for the construction of six FPSO topsides modules. Armada Cabaca Ltd, an affiliate of Bumi Armada Berhad (Bumi Armada), a Malaysia-based international oilfield services provider to the oil and gas industry, contracted Dyna-Mac for a scope of work including detailed engineering and the fabrication of six units of topsides modules for an FPSO vessel that will be deployed at Eni’s Block 15/06 East Hub field, located 350 km northeast of Luanda in deep water offshore Angola. The topsides FPSO modules are scheduled to be delivered to the owner within the first quarter of 2016.

Qatar Petroleum plans to invest over 40 billion QAR

Qatar Petroleum (QP) announced plans to invest over 40 billion Qatari Riyals (QAR) in the re-development of the existing Bul Hanine offshore oil field located about 120 kilometers to the east of the Qatari coastline. The project, which is currently at the pre-FEED stage, is one of the largest to be managed and executed by QP. It is designed to prolong the field’s life by countering its production decline and doubling its current oil production rate. Commenting on the redevelopment plans, H.E. Use a new EOR technology brings award for BP

In recognition of the breakthrough new enhanced oil recovery – or EOR – technology, BP has been presented with the Distinguished Achievement Award. The award was presented on 4 May, 2014 at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston, Texas. This is the second time in four years that BP has won the award at this major annual gathering for oil and gas professionals. BP's plans to use the new enhanced oil recovery – or EOR – technology from day one of operations at the Clair Ridge field west of Shetland, UK have won BP this major industry award.Until now, emerging EOR techniques have typically been applied to older fields as the oil production rate falls and recovery of oil and gas becomes harder - and uneconomic.

Statoil in New Field Development Offshore Canada

The Hebron field development offshore Newfoundland and Labrador was sanctioned by operator ExxonMobil and its co-venturers. Located approximately 350 km offshore Newfoundland, the Hebron platform will be a concrete Gravity Based Structure (GBS) in 95 meters water depth. The Hebron field is estimated to produce more than 700 million barrels of oil. The platform is being designed for an oil production rate of 150,000 barrels of oil per day. For Statoil, which holds a 9.7% share in Hebron, this is a significant component in the growth of the company’s Canada East Coast operations.

MMS: Oil Production Offshore GOM to Rise Steeply

The Minerals Management Service (MMS), Gulf of Mexico Region, released new oil and gas daily production rate projections that encompass the year 2006. According to the new report, Daily Oil and Gas Production Rate Projections From 2002 Through 2006, Gulf of Mexico Outer Continental Shelf, MMS is forecasting a daily oil production rate of between 2.00 and 2.47 million barrels by the end of 2006, and a daily gas production rate of between 10.97 and 16.39 billion cu. ft. by the end of the same year. These represent high case and low case estimates. MMS Director Johnnie Burton called the new projections "a healthy, sizeable increase in the range of possible oil production.
