Shell Sues Greenpeace for Boarding Penguins FPSO While in Transit

Shell is suing Greenpeace for $2.1 million in damages after the environmental group's activists boarded the company's oil production vessel in transit at sea this year, according to Greenpeace and a document seen by Reuters.The British oil and gas major filed the claim in London's High Court. Buchan Alpha Arrives in Shetland for Decommissioning

The Buchan Alpha oil production vessel has arrived safely in Lerwick, Shetland for disposal. A semi-submersible moored floating production vessel, weighing 12,000 tonnes, Buchan Alpha was built in 1973 as a drilling rig and converted for production purposes in Stornoway between 1978-80. The vessel commenced production in 1981 from the Buchan field, located in blocks 21/1A and 20/5A, and has subsequently also produced the nearby Hannay field. Production ceased, as planned, on 12 May 2017 having produced around 148mm barrels of oil. The contract for disposal was internationally tendered and awarded to Veolia working with their strategic partner in decommissioning, Peterson, who have a proven safety and environmental track record in the decommissioning of oil and gas assets.

New Fresh Water Generators for Pionerio de Libra FPSO

Dutch water treatment specialist Hatenboer-Water has supplied three fresh water generators for the Pioneiro de Libra oil production vessel built by Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd. The order consists of three reverse osmosis type fresh water generators. Two of the generators are topside installations in heavy duty box frames suitable for a hazardous Ex Zone 2 area. The Pioneiro de Libra is operated by OOGTK Libra GmbH & Co KG, a joint venture between Brazil’s Odebrecht Oil & Gas and Teekay Offshore. The reverse osmosis (RO) units desalinate seawater for different applications on board.

Statoil Submits Trestakk Plan for Development and Operation

Statoil, on behalf of the license holders, has submitted a Plan for Development and Operation of the Trestakk discovery on the Halten Bank to the minister for petroleum and energy, Tord Lien, in Bodø. Capital expenditures are estimated at approximately 5.5 billion NOK. The discovery, made in 1986, contains about 76 million barrels of recoverable oil equivalent, mainly oil. The project will be tied back to the Åsgard A oil production vessel, with planned production startup anticipated in 2019. “Trestakk is a good example of what is possible to achieve through spending time on working toward the best concept selection. By rethinking our concept along with license partners and suppliers, we have arrived at a solution that costs almost 50 percent less than the original concept.

Ghana cuts GDP Forecast

Ghana has cut its 2016 economic growth forecast sharply to 4.1 percent from 5.4 percent due to lower export prices and irregular oil production, Finance Minister Seth Terkper told Reuters on Monday. Oil output was halted between March and May at the offshore Jubilee field due to a breakdown on a production ship, and the country lost millions of dollars in revenue. IFS and Det Norske Veritas Join Forces

IFS Norway AS and Det Norske Veritas (DNV) have agreed to combine their technology by developing an IT solution for the international maritime market. IFS Norway and Det Norske Veritas (DNV) have agreed to combine their maritime know how and technology to develop an IT solution for the international maritime market. The solution will become the first of its kind on the global market and is initially focues on ensuring stable and safe operations of oil production vessels offshore- Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSOs).
