MacGregor Winches for Malaysian Accommodation Barges

MacGregor has secured a winch package contract from Nam Cheong Limited group, a global offshore marine player listed on the Main Board of the Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited and Malaysia's largest offshore support vessel builder. Eight-point MacGregor mooring systems, with a 150-metric-ton line pull/270-metric-ton brake holding capacity, tugger winches and capstans have been specified for two new 500-men accommodation work barges being built at the yard. An option remains for two more barges. The 123-meter barges are scheduled for delivery in 2016.

Rosneft & Cupet to Cooperate at Brownfields, Cuba

On July 11, Head of Rosneft Igor Sechin and General Director of Union CubaPetroleo (CUPET) Juan Torres Naranjo signed in Havana the Agreement on Cooperation in the Area of Enhanced Oil Recovery at Brownfields. The Agreement was signed in the presence of the Russian President Vladimir Putin and the President of the State Council of Cuba Raul Castro. The document provides for the joint activities concerning comprehensive studies of field development and well production conditions in the territory of Cuba. The purpose of the studies is to identify options to optimize oil production processes, improve well stock operating efficiency and performance of enhanced oil recovery activities.

Aker Kvaerner Completes Offshore SRU

Aker Kvaerner has completed its two first offshore Sulphate Removal Units (SRU) commissioning in Brazil. The work has been executed by the Aker Kvaerner subsidiary Aker Kvaerner Process Systems , who is a major supplier of water injection and SRU including services, successfully completed the SRU commissioning on Petrobras FPSO P50 with a capacity of 220,000 BPD of low sulphate water at the end of April 2007. This unit is the first delivered by Aker Kvaerner Process Systems to the Brazilian market. In parallel, Aker Kvaerner Process Systems completed the commissioning of the second SRU supplied to the FPSO MV14 (FPSO Cidade do Rio de Janeiro) operated by MODEC, with a capacity of 120,000 BPD of low sulphate water. Performance guarantee testing was approved by the client.
