A record dolphin die-off in the northern Gulf of Mexico was caused by the largest oil spill in U.S. history, researchers said on Wednesday, citing a new study that found many of the dolphins died with rare lesions linked to petroleum exposure. Scientists said the study of dead dolphins tissue rounded out the research into a spike of dolphin deaths in the region affected by BP Plc's oil spill that was caused by the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion. Carnival Sues Over Deepwater Horizon Spill
According to a Miami Herals Wire report, Carnival Corp. is seeking compensation for damages and losses it incurred as a result of last April's Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion and major oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Carnival Corp. filed suit last week on the anniversary of the oil spill against BP PLC and several other companies related to the oil rig's operations. (Source: Miami Herald Wire Report)

The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization, announced that its Annual Tribute to the United States Coast Guard (USCG) Eighth District, The Guardian of the Heartland Dinner, will take place on Friday, April 15, 2011. Wrongful Death Lawsuit Over GOM Explosion
Attorneys with the Houston trial law firm Arnold & Itkin LLP filed a wrongful death lawsuit on behalf of the family of Aaron Dale Burkeen, one of 11 men still missing after the recent oil rig explosion in the Gulf of Mexico. A resident of Philadelphia, Miss., Burkeen worked as a crane operator on the Deepwater Horizon, a massive oil rig owned by Swiss-based Transocean Ltd. (NYSE:RIG) and operated by UK-based BP PLC (NYSE:BP) . On April 20, Burkeen was operating the crane on deck before the first explosion rocked the rig. His responsibilities included getting other crew members to safety. He is believed to have been tragically killed in the second blast.
