Seatankers Hires Investment Chief, Invites Outside Capital

Seatankers, the powerful holding company of Norwegian-born billionaire John Fredriksen, said on Thursday it had hired a veteran fund manager to broaden the group’s portfolio and bring in outside capital in a new unit.Vegard Soeraunet, until recently an investment director at Norway’s ODIN Fund Management, will be in charge of “long-term and active ownership” outside of Seatankers’s shipping and offshore oil services industries, the company said.“Getting the opportunity to take this to the next level with a new structure under Seatankers, is a great opportunity,” Soeraunet said in a statement.It was the second key appointment at Seatankers in recent days following the August 28 naming of a hedge fund manager as its new chief executive.While Fredriksen initially built his fortune from shippi

Vard to Build Harkland Offshore DSC Vessel

Vard Holdings says it has secured a contract with a new customer, Harkand Group (Harkand), for the design and construction of a Diving Support and Construction (DSC) Vessel. The value of the contract exceeds NOK 1 billion. The vessel is scheduled for delivery from Vard Søviknes in Norway in 2Q 2016. and the hull is to be delivered from Vard Tulcea in Romania. The contract includes an option for a second similar DSC vessel. The new order will be of VARD 3 03 design, specially designed and equipped for diving and subsea operation duties with a high focus on good sea-keeping abilities…

Cableship Contract for STX OSV

STX OSV Holdings Limited wins contract for design and construction of a cable laying vessel for an international client. The vessel will be of STX OSV’s own CLV 01 design with delivery scheduled from STX OSV in Norway in 3Q 2014. The hull of the vessel will be delivered from STX OSV Tulcea in Romania for fitting out in the Norwegian shipyard. The contract price exceeds NOK 450 million. STX OSV Holdings, headquartered in Norway, is together with its subsidiaries, one of the major global designers and shipbuilders of offshore and specialized vessels used in the offshore oil and gas exploration and production and oil services industries.
