Kalmar to Debut its latest at TOC Europe Exhibition

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, will introduce yet another port industry first during the upcoming TOC Europe exhibition in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. On 9 June, ONE is coming. Automation is widely accepted as the way towards improved productivity, safety and competitiveness in today's container terminals. However, it is often perceived as a difficult task that requires terminal operators to integrate multiple complex systems. "We believe that the port industry is at the start of the next big wave of automation. Kalmar and Navis, as global technology leaders in this field, are strongly contributing to this transformation and addressing the industry's challenges.

Kaunonen to Head Automation & Projects at Kalmar

Antti Kaunonen has been appointed as Senior Vice President, Automation and Projects, Kalmar, part of Cargotec. Antti Kaunonen brings with him over 25 years of experience from industrial businesses and deep knowledge in automation. He has delivered proven success in building automation and project business capabilities in global companies. Before joining Kalmar, Antti worked at Voith in Germany close to eight years in different management positions heading Voith Paper Automation, Voith Paper EMEA Region and, most recently, Voith Hydro Automation. Before Voith, Antti worked for Metso Automation over 20 years in various key roles. During this time he lived five years in the USA and over one year in China.

Jessup Appointed Sr.VP in Kalmar

Craig Jessup has been appointed Senior Vice President, Services in Kalmar, part of Cargotec. Craig joins Kalmar from Ingersoll Rand where he headed the Industrial Technologies parts and services business for Europe, Middle East, Africa and India. Before Ingersoll Rand, Craig worked 21 years at ABB where he held a variety of leadership positions in the service business and was in charge of the global Services business of ABB's Robotics division as VP Customer Service as well as the Worldwide Head of Service Technology. Craig, who has both US and French citizenships, has lived and worked in several countries, including the USA, Canada, France, the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Kalmar Automation System for Melbourne's CT

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has been awarded a contract to provide an integrated automation system to handle operations at Victoria International Container Terminal Ltd's (VICT) new terminal in Melbourne, Australia. According to the contract, Kalmar will be responsible for the delivery of the control systems of automatic stacking cranes (ASCs) and AutoShuttles, and terminal logistic system (TLS) as well as for the integration of the system components and terminal operating system (TOS). The value of this new automation contract is approximately EUR 15 million and it has been booked into Cargotec's 2014 fourth quarter order intake. The contract follows an order for 12 ASCs and 11 AutoShuttles received in September 2014. Furthermore, the TOS will be provided by Navis, part of Cargotec.

Greg Hewitt is Executive V.P. of Kalmar

Greg Hewitt (MBA, B.Sc.) has over 25 years of versatile experience from industrial equipment, transportation, major appliances and retail businesses. He has worked as President and CEO in Heil Trailer International, as Vice President & General Manager in Komatsu North America, Construction Division, and as Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Customer Service at Jacobsen, a Textron Company. "Greg Hewitt will be focusing on the development of our sales and service and customer interfaces in the Americas region, with the target to increase Kalmar's market share in the region. We are delighted to welcome him to the team," says Olli Isotalo, President of Kalmar.

Cargotec's Kalmar Wins Order for Melbourne's Container Terminal

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has won a significant contract to deliver container handling equipment and related automation technology worth of more than EUR 40 million to Port of Melbourne's new container terminal, operated by Victoria International Container Terminal Ltd (VICTL). The order includes 12 automated stacking cranes and 11 automated shuttle carriers and they will be delivered during 2016. Kalmar's partnership with VICTL, a consortium comprised of Philippines-based International Container Terminal Services Incorporated (ICTSI) and Australia's Anglo Ports, marks a milestone in Australia's port infrastructure development. Australia has shown the way in port automation and Kalmar has played a key role in introducing innovative automation solutions to the country's leading ports.

Cargotec Appoints Svennevig as VP

Cargotec appoints Tom Svennevig Vice President for MacGregor advanced load-handling business. Cargotec has appointed Tom Svennevig as Vice President responsible for the company's advanced load-handling business line as of 24 October 2011. Mr Svennevig is experienced in the offshore business, and he joins Cargotec from Aker Pusnes in Norway where he was Vice President, Deck Machinery. Mr Svennevig is based in Kristiansand, Norway, where he also assumes the role of Managing Director of Cargotec Norway AS.

Cargotec Merges Hiab & Kalmar

Cargotec announced on 22 June 2009 of merging Hiab and Kalmar business areas. As a result of the merger, Cargotec has now formed two business areas: Marine, which comprises current MacGregor business area, and Industrial and Terminal, which comprises current Hiab and Kalmar business areas. Olli Isotalo continues to head the Marine business as Executive Vice President. Pekka Vauramo heads the Industrial and Terminal business as Senior Executive Vice President. MacGregor Establishes Offshore Division

Cargotec’s MacGregor business area providing marine cargo handling solutions has established a new division, MacGregor Offshore. The acquired companies, Norwegian Hydramarine and Singaporean Plimsoll will be the foundation for the new division. The offshore division will be headed by Henrik Vildenfeldt who previously worked as SVP, Corporate Development at MacGregor. Vildenfeldt reports to Olli Isotalo, President of MacGREGOR. The new division employs approximately 700 people. Both Hydramarine and Plimsoll are included in MacGregor financials as of the beginning of April 2007. The new offshore division will focus on achieving targeted synergies from the combination of Hydramarine and Plimsoll and continue to build on future growth.

MacGREGOR Adds to Offshore Portfolio

MacGREGOR’s expansion into the offshore support sector continues with its latest acquisition, Vestnorsk Hydraulikkservice AS (VNH). The company is a service and turn-key system supplier to the offshore and marine industries, its main focus being offshore hydraulics service and products. VNH has a 1,100m² workshop suitable for service of hydraulic equipment in Ågotnes, west of Bergen, Norway. The company has net sales of €4.5 million and employs 21 people. Vestnorsk Hydraulikkservice AS is today owned by Vestnorsk Holding AS. VNH works fully in the offshore industry and carries out installation, troubleshooting and repairs on and off shore. About 80 per cent of its revenue comes from service, the rest from various hydraulic turn-key projects.

New President of the MacGregor Group

Olli Isotalo was named president of MacGregor. He was previously president of Bromma, the container spreader specialist belonging to Cargotec Corporation. Isotalo has an MSc in Engineering, and he has held different key positions in Kalmar, Cargotec’s container handling business area, since joining the company in 1993.
