Harley to Lead Britannia's Greek Office

London based P&I club Britannia said it has finalized plans to open its Greek office in Piraeus as part of an ongoing expansion of the club’s regional hub network.The Greek office will be headed by David Harley who recently returned to the London office having established and worked for over five years as head of Britannia, Hong Kong. Harley will be assisted by newly appointed Konstantinos Samaritis, who joins from a Greek shipowner, having previously worked for both Standard and Skuld Clubs’ Greek operations.

Kongsberg K-Walk for Olympic Orion MPSV

Olympic Shipping has chosen Kongsberg Maritime’s new K-Walk integrated vessel gangway solution for installation aboard the Multipurpose Offshore Vessel (MPSV), Olympic Orion. Designed to significantly increase efficiency and safety for Walk-to-Work duties, K-Walk will be integrated with the advanced Kongsberg Information Management System (K-IMS) and the existing K-Pos Dynamic Positioning system on board Olympic Orion, which will be upgraded as part of the installation in the latter half of 2017. Olympic Orion will utilise the innovative K-Walk solution following its launch as part of KONGSBERG’s new Integration Strategy in Fall 2016. The system takes a new approach to increasing productivity and efficiency for Walk-to-Work vessels by improving operability of key systems on board.

Two Offshore Vessels Join DOF Fleet

The DOF Group said a Norwegian limited company not owned by DOF has signed an agreement with Olympic Shipping to purchase two vessels, Olympic Commander and Olympic Hera. DOF and the new owner have entered into an agreement for management and operation of the two vessels, and DOF has an option to purchase the vessels at a price corresponding to the outstanding debt or approximately 50-60 percent of historical build costs. Olympic Shipping to Get Finance

The struggling Norwegian supply vessel shipping firm Olympic Shipping said a consortium of investors is willing to invest about 500 million Norwegian crowns ($61.79 million) in a refinancing of the company, reports Reuters. Olympic Shipping is one of the shipping companies that are struggling vigorously. Since summer, Olympic Shipping lived on creditors' grace under a so-called "standstill agreement". This means that the company has released to pay installments on their loans, anticipating that one tries to find a financial solution for the company. The investment is contingent on a restructuring of the group, which must be agreed with lenders. The current shareholders will be invited to participate in the share issue on equal terms.

Olympic Pact with Canyon Offshore

Norwegian offshore shipping company Olympic Shipping has entered into a frame agreement with Canyon Offshore for the joint marketing and subsequent operation of the subsea construction vessel (SCV) Olympic Athene and Canyon’s ROV systems. Under the agreement the companies will work together to secure utilization for the vessel and ROV systems and services with third party clients. The framework agreement will operate initially for six months, with the potential to be evergreen thereafter. According to Olympic, the Olympic Athene has started its first job with a third party client in the U.S. Gulf under this agreement. Under this agreement, the Olympic Athene, formerly known as Olympic Boa, has already started its first job in the U.S. Gulf.

Olympic Subsea Vessel Bags Contract

Olympic Shipping has secured a contract for Olympic Delta, an inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) vessel, with an international client  to work on a renewable energy project. The vessel, with the length of 92.55 meters, will be employed in the renewable energy sector. The value of the contract was not disclosed. Olympic Delta will start work in August for a fixed period of 120 days, plus a further 80 days or more if extension options are exercised. Stig Remøy the company’s CEO, said: ”For many years we have focused on offering our environmental friendly operations also within the renewable energy market. Olympic Delta is equipped with a diesel electric frequency controlled propulsion, an azimuth thruster and a system for dynamic positioning.

Kleven Delivers to Olympic Shipping

Offshore construction vessel Olympic Bibby, build no. 371 from Kleven Verft, has been delivered to Norwegian shipowner Olympic Shipping. The vessel has a long term charter with Bibby Offshore, and its first job will be on the British sector of the North Sea. The naming ceremony was held in Olympic’s home harbor Fosnavåg April 9. The vessel measures 87.5  x 19m, making the entrance to the narrow harbor (22m wide) a spectacular sight. The vessel is of MT 6021 design from Marin Teknikk, has accommodation for 68 persons, and is purpose built for subsea inspection, maintenance and repair work.

Delta SubSea Adds New Vessel

Delta SubSea has entered into an agreement with Norwegian company Olympic Shipping AS for the Olympic Delta, a newly built Multipurpose Subsea Support & Construction Vessel. The Olympic Delta is a 94m-long green-friendly vessel designed for greatly reduced fuel consumption and emissions. It will carry two Schilling HD 150 HP work-class remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) from DSS’s fleet, with the focus on inspection, repair and maintenance jobs, says a statement from the company. The Vessel designed according to DNV class, with high focus on reduced fuel consumption, which also means lesser emission to the environment. “We’re thrilled to announce the addition of a second vessel to our growing line up,” said Scott Dingman, DSS’s President – CEO.

Delta SubSea Secures New Build Olympic Delta

Delta SubSea, LLC has entered into an agreement with Olympic Shipping AS for the Olympic Delta, a newly built multipurpose subsea support and construction vessel. The Olympic Delta is a GREEN Vessel designed according to DNV class, with high focus on reduced fuel consumption, which also means lesser emission to the environment. The vessel is equipped with two Delta SubSea Schilling HD 150 HP work-class remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) from DSS’s fleet. The 94 m long, Olympic Delta, has a maximum speed of 13 knots and is equipped with an 80 T (AHC) crane with 2,000 m of wire.

New Bibby Offshore Vessel Christened

On Thursday, April 9, the official naming ceremony took place for inspection repair and maintenance (IRM) light construction vessel Olympic Bibby, at the Kleven Shipyard, Norway. The ceremony saw the vessel’s official Godmother Connie Brown, wife of recently appointed Chairman of Bibby Offshore Mike Brown, christening the NORSOK compliant, 4,500-metric-ton vessel in front of a crowd of 250. Commenting on her experience, Brown said: It’s been a great honor and privilege to christen the Olympic Bibby.

Kleven's New Contract With Olympic Shipping

Kleven has signed a contract with Olympic Shipping for delivery of an IMR vessels (inspection, maintenance and repair) of the MT 6021 MKII for delivery in summer 2015. The vessel is designed by Marine Engineering, and is a further development of the MT-6021 designed as a sister ship for delivery in March 2015 has. Both vessels will be delivered from Kleven. contract has a value of about 450 million.   The vessel is among others equipped with ROV hangars and a 80-tonne offshore crane and has accommodation capacity for 80 persons. Kleven has 13 vessels on order, with a total value of about 8 billion.

Bibby Remote Intervention Expands Fleet

Bibby Remote Intervention Limited (BRIL), part of Aberdeen-based subsea installation contractor, Bibby Offshore, has further expanded its fleet by signing a charter agreement for an IRM (Inspection Repair and Maintenance) light construction vessel and adding an additional two ROVs (Remote Operating Vehicles) to its operations. The charter agreement with Olympic Shipping is for a newly built MT6021 vessel for a three year period, with options to extend for an additional two years. The vessel will be mobilized with ROVs from BRIL and is expected to arrive in Aberdeen in early April next year.

Bibby Offshore Charters Construction Support Vessel

Aberdeen-based subsea installation contractor Bibby Offshore has signed a charter agreement for construction support vessel (CSV), the Olympic ARES. The agreement with Olympic Shipping will initially be a seasonal charter beginning at the end of Q1 2014 with options to extend. The vessel will be mobilized with ROVs from Bibby Offshore’s sister company Bibby Remote Intervention Limited and the companies together with Olympic Shipping shall jointly market the vessel from when it arrives in Aberdeen this month.

In Mobile, Ala., Signal Ship Repair (SSR) offers 4,400 ft. of water front along the Mobile River with a maintained channel depth of 44 ft. This facility specializes in ship repair and conversion.

STX Norway Offshore to Build LNG Powered PSV

STX Norway Offshore has entered into a new contract with Olympic Shipping to build an LNG powered Platform Supply Vessel. The vessel is scheduled for delivery in Q1 2012. The new vessel is designed by STX Norway Offshore Design in Ålesund. The hull is to be built at Tulcea, Romania, and the vessel will be outfitted at Aukra. The vessel will be built according to the latest SPS regulations, which will give excellent stability under all weather conditions and the highest levels of security for the crew.

Kleven Maritime Contract with Olympic Shipping

Fosnavåg-shipping company Olympic Shipping contracting newbuildings at Kleven Maritime to 380 million. Contract with Olympic Shipping Kleven Maritime confirms its position as the largest Norwegian-owned shipbuilding group. This is the group's second contract in two weeks. Vessel will be delivered in November 2012 and hosted the third of three similar vessels, where the first two were ordered in August 2010 and January 2011. The ships are of the design MT 6015 from the Marine Engineering and is a multi-user platform service vessels.

Rolls-Royce Delivers First Permanent Magnet Tunnel Thruster

Newly-developed magnetic tunnel thruster delivered to Norway's Olymic Shipping by Rolls-Royce for its AHTS 'Olymic Octopus'. Tunnel thrusters are positioned fore and aft on a wide range of ships and provide sideways thrust for maneuvering and holding position in rough seas. The TT-PM offers numerous advantages over traditional tunnel thrusters, including a 25% increase in power output of from the same size propeller, significant reduction in noise and vibration, and can be removed underwater, eliminating the need for dry docking.
