Kongsberg to Deliver Simulator Suite for South Metropolitan TAFE

Kongsberg Digital (KDI) announced it has won a tender to supply a range of maritime simulator solutions for the South Metropolitan TAFE (Technical and Further Education) institute in Fremantle, Western Australia. Funded through the Department of Training and Workforce Development, this contract was awarded to KDI through an open and competitive process.The new contract commits KDI to the delivery, installation and commissioning of a complete maritime simulator suite of hardware and software technology, replacing SM TAFE’s current maritime simulator systems.

Safebridge Adds Kelvin Hughes ECDIS Training

Online simulation training specialist Safebridge will launch a new training course for Kelvin Hughes MantaDigital Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS). Kelvin Hughes Marine Systems, a supplier of ships’ bridge systems, has appointed Safebridge and its sister company MSG MarineServe GmbH as authorized training providers for Kelvin Hughes ECDIS products. The new course is available online through the Safebridge cloud-based Internet infrastructure, on-board or as classroom-based training through the ECDIS Training Consortium (ETC) Network. The Safebridge online ECDIS training course includes guided lessons, open freeplay and a competency test.

Safebridge links with Raytheon Anschütz

Cooperation Agreement to provide their 5th type-specific ECDIS training solution. With the pressure on to train seafarers in the use of ECDIS, the online simulation training company Safebridge is in negotiation with various ECDIS suppliers to offer online, type-specific ECDIS training based on the ECDIS manufacturer’s own software. The latest manufacturer to sign a cooperation agreement with Safebridge is Raytheon Anschütz, a leading supplier of navigation systems to both merchant and naval vessels. Safebridge is an innovative online training company specialising in type-specific simulation training solutions for the maritime industry. The company was created to meet the demand for ECDIS training contained in the new STCW 2012 and ISM Code regulations.
