Itajaí Hits Record Ro-Ro Operations

Celebrating its first year of Roll-on Roll-off (Ro-Ro) operations, APM Terminals Itajaí, Brazil discharged more than 31,000 vehicles this month. The Terminal also recorded a productivity record, unloading 961 vehicles from the American Highway ship at 05.40 on September 7.Traditionally focused on container operations, the opportunity to handle Ro-Ro cargo arose in March 2018. Kalmar Strengthens Cooperation with VidaXL

The provider cargo-handling solutions and services to ports and terminals Kalmar has concluded an agreement to supply a further three Kalmar T2 terminal tractors, including preventive and on-call maintenance service, to leading Dutch online retailer VidaXL.Kalmar, part of Cargotec, said that the order was booked in Cargotec's 2019 Q1 order intake, with delivery of the machines scheduled to take place during Q3 of 2019.VidaXL is a rapidly growing international online retailer serving three million customers every year and employs close to 1,500 people around the world. ExxonMobil Signs LNG Tie-up Pact with Uniper

German utility Uniper SE signed a Heads of Agreement (HOA) with ExxonMobil Gas Marketing Europe Limited in respect of a long-term booking of a substantial share of regasification capacity in Uniper’s floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) project Wilhelmshaven for receiving liquefied natural gas (LNG).According to a press release, the parties will continue their discussions in the coming months with the goal to enter into binding agreements soon.Keith Martin, Chief Commercial Officer of Uniper SE, says: “The Heads of Agreement is an important step towards the realization of the Wilhelmshaven FSRU project. The FSRU will provide LNG companies from the US, but also other countries from around the world with the opportunity to deliver LNG into the German and European market.

Uniper, Mitsui OSK Lines Press Ahead German FSRU

German energy group Uniper and Japanese shipping group Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) have agreed to intensify efforts on the Wilhelmshaven FSRU (Floating Storage and Regasification Unit) project in Germany, which could start up as early as H2 2022.The FSRU has a planned send-out capacity of 10 bcm/a and liquefied natural (LNG) storage capacity of 263,000 m³, said a press release from Uniper, the international energy company with operations in more than 40 countries.The project benefits from the existing site in Wilhelmshaven where required infrastructure is already in place. Wilhelmshaven is the only German deep-water port and can be reached without any tidal constraints.

Containership Sets Sail on India-Bangladesh Trade

Krishnapatnam Port, an all-weather; deepwater port on India’s east-coast, earmarked a historic moment for India’s bilateral trade and commerce as the first direct container vessel, part of coastal shipping agreement to facilitate trade between India and Bangladesh, set sail from the port on March 28, 2016. The trade agreements which were signed during the reign of the then Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1974 were revived back after a period of four decades during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Dhaka last year.

CMA CGM announced the launch of its new KHULU Line dedicated to the U.S. With the addition of its newest line, CMA CGM now offers its customers eight services with a weekly call in South Africa. The line’s first sailing will be MV GREY FOX voy. 7S001R, ETD Houston on May 7, 2014. KHULU’s rotation is: Houston, Walvis Bay, Cape Town, Durban, Maputo, Richards Bay, Houston. Titan Makes Headway on New Flame Salvage

Titan Salvage, Crowley Maritime Corporation's salvage and wreck removal company, reported that its salvage team on site in Gibraltar responding to the wreck of the bulk ship New Flame is preparing to begin cutting the stern section of the ship from the sunken bow so that the stern can be re-floated and towed away.
