Netherlands to Ban Degassing on Inland Navigation Vessels

"The Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management, Van Nieuwenhuizen wants the degasification ban to be introduced in the Netherlands by mid-2020," said the statement. A taskforce will be set up in order to ensure in partnership with the business community that the introduction of this national degassing ban runs smoothly. Port of Amsterdam is one of the organisations that will be participating in this process. This marks another step in our liveability programme: a clean and safe port region for local residents and businesses. Apart from Port of Amsterdam the Government, port companies, Shell Nederland and the provinces of North Holland, North Brabant, South Holland, Utrecht, Overijssel, Gelderland, Flevoland and Zeeland are involved in the task force.

Boscalis to Get IJsseldelta 'Room for the River' Contract

Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. (Boskalis) say that the Dutch Department of Public Works and the province of Overijssel intends to award the contract for the IJsseldelta polder to them. The project is part of the national 'Room for the River' program, which consists of more than 30 measures aimed at providing better flood protection for areas close to the country's rivers. The project will involve lowering the summer bed of the Lower IJssel river along a length of 7.5 kilometers near the town of Kampen and creating a bypass to the south of Kampen. The work will be executed in conjunction with Van Hattum and Blankevoort in the Isala Delta construction consortium. Initial preparations will take place in the fall of 2014 with the project scheduled for completion by the end of 2019.
