Denmark Charges Former OW Bunker Manager with Fraud

Denmark's general prosecutor said on Thursday it had charged a former Singapore unit manager of Denmark-based OW Bunker with fraud.   The prosecutor said the former manager, a Danish citizen, has been charged with committing fraud of agent for more than 800 million Danish crowns ($122.79 million) by granting credit outside his mandate.   The prosecutor also said it did not find legal grounds for criminal prosecution of other management members within the OW Bunker group, the world's biggest marine fuel supplier before it went bankrupt in 2014.   Reporting by Stine Jacobsen

OW Bunker Acquires Wilhelmsen Marine Fuels

OW Bunker, a physical distributor and reseller of marine fuels, today announced that it has acquired marine fuel broker Wilhelmsen Marine Fuels, a subsidiary of Norwegian Wilhelmsen Maritime Services, for an undisclosed sum. Wilhelmsen Marine Fuels’ main activity is broking services from offices in Oslo, London and Singapore, servicing customers on a global basis, but with a key presence in Singapore and the ARA-region (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Antwerp). OW Bunker to Supply Low Sulphur Fuel

Responds to increased ECA demand with launch of LSFO supply barge. OW Bunker, a global supplier and trader of marine fuel and lubricants, has announced that it will supply low sulphur 1% RMG 380cst fuel from Balboa, Panama from mid-October 2012. The move will serve to meet the growing demand from customers transiting the North American ECA zones. The company's local supply tanker, MT Star Alpha, has been released from dry-dock following modifications to the supply vessel's tanks to provide complete segregation of LSFO products, which is vital to ensuring quality.

As Australia-Asia Trade Grows, So Too Does Bunker Use

OW Bunker confirmed an increase in demand for bunkers across the Pacific Islands, resulting from a further strengthening in trade between Australia, China, Indonesia and India and further growth in the domestic cruise industry. OW Bunker Australia, which acts as the OW Bunker Group's purchasing centre for the region, has reported that the Pacific Islands are experiencing an increase in demand for marine fuel as Australia's commodities markets and marine tourism industries continue on a positive growth trajectory. OW Bunker has confirmed that availability of both 0.1% MGO and 3.5% fuel oil across the region is sufficient to meet demand, with a strong supply infrastructure throughout the Pacific Islands.
