Shippers Take Measures to Limit OW Bunker Fallout

Shipping firms have paid millions of dollars into U.S. accounts to prevent their vessels from being detained due to non-payment of bills for fuel supplied by the bankrupt OW Bunker, indicating the impact from the collapse of the Danish firm was spreading. OW Bunker filed for bankruptcy in November after losing almost $300 million in alleged fraudulent trading in Singapore, leading to claims by distributors who sold shipping fuel on behalf of OW Bunker but had not been paid. Kounalakis Joins OW Bunker N. America

OW Bunker, a reseller and physical supplier of marine fuels, announced the appointment of Georgia Kounalakis to its physical supply operation in North America. Kounalakis joins the region’s senior team to take on responsibility for business development and help to drive further sales growth across North America, in line with the company’s global expansion strategy. Kounalakis joins OW Bunker North America from Aegean Marine Petroleum Inc, where she most recently held the position of General Manager – Americas.

OW Bunker Begins US West Coast Operations

OW Bunker first delivery in LA_and Long Beach

OW Bunker has confirmed that its newly established physical distribution operation in Los Angeles and Long Beach, California, is now fully operational. The company’s first physical delivery was made to the containership CMA CGM Norma from the double-hulled barge Lily Blair earlier this month. Since then, OW Bunker has completed more deliveries as part of its service that covers the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach and offers a full range of quality products, including RMG380 (HSFO and LSFO), RMK500, RMK700 and MGO.

OW Bunker Expands North America Distribution

OW Bunker, a physical distributors and resellers of marine fuel, announced the launch of physical distribution operations in Los Angeles and Long Beach, further expanding its presence in North America. The move comes less than 18 months after launching a physical offering offshore in the Gulf of Mexico, as well as a recent deal signed in February 2014 with UNIPEC America to provide products at the BOSTCO fuel oil terminal in Houston. OW Bunker Contracted for BOSTCO Terminal

OW Bunker announced that it has signed an exclusive alliance with UNIPEC America to provide products at the new BOSTCO (Battleground Oil Specialty Terminal) fuel oil terminal in Houston. The move further expands the company’s physical presence in the region, complementing its existing operations in the Gulf of Mexico and Panama. UNIPEC America has negotiated the rights to supply bunkers ex-pipe at the new BOSTCO terminal. In conjunction with this, OW Bunker has developed a partnership agreement with UNIPEC America to provide calling vessels with quality products and services from January 2014.

OW Bunker Appoints New N. America Regional Manager

OW Bunker, one of the world’s largest suppliers and traders of marine fuels and lubricants, appoint Adrian Tolson to the new role of Regional Manager for the company’s North American operation. Mr. Tolson joined OW Bunker in October 2012 to develop the physical division in North America; he will now head up both trading and physical operations. The move is part of the company’s strategy to create strong leadership within its key global regions and to deliver controlled expansion and increase capacity within North America. As part of the development, OW Bunker is also in the process of implementing a significant recruitment drive to help facilitate its growth ambitions.
