Vacon Partners with Bristol Compressors

Global AC drives manufacturer Vacon has signed a three-year supply agreement with Virginia-based Bristol Compressors International Inc. The supply agreement covers design and manufacture of AC drives that will be used to control Bristol Compressors' Benchmark VStar variable speed compressors. "This partnership with Bristol Compressors allows Vacon to strengthen its foothold in North America in the high-volume residential HVAC marketplace which is an exciting growth opportunity for Vacon," says Tom Doring, President, Vacon North America. "This new compressor represents a major technical leap forward in efficiency and sound reduction, and we are excited to be part of the overall solution".

Remedial Offshore Pics Power for Unique Offshore Vessel

Remedial Offshore announced the purchase of V228 medium-speed diesel engines from GE Marine to power the new Remedial Offshore Elevating Support Vessels (ESVs). Reportedly the world’s first self-propelled, 325-foot nominal water depth-rated jack-up well intervention vessel, Remedial Offhore’s ESV design provides a hybrid between a jack-up drilling rig and a marine vessel. The new ESV concept offers versatility and operational functionality, ranging from an incorporated electric well workover package to a large open deck for offshore support functions.

GE to Power Tuna Clipper

GE Transportation's marine business, in conjunction with its distributor Marinsa Ecuador S.A., announced it has delivered a GE 16-cylinder 7FDM diesel engine for installation aboard the Cap. Berny B tuna clipper. The vessel, owned by Berni Buehs and Sons, Manta, Ecuador, is being repowered from a dual-engine propulsion system to a single GE medium-speed diesel engine arrangement, GE reported today at Nor-Shipping 2005. "This is a milestone project because it marks the initial application of a GE diesel engine for a tuna boat," said John Manison, manager of GE Transportation's marine and stationary power business in Erie, Pa. GE Receives EPA Tier II Compliance Certification

GE Transportation announces that it has received United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier II emissions compliance certification for its V228 diesel engine family. In order for the EPA to grant Tier II compliance certification, GE submitted results from emissions testing conducted on its 8, 12 and 16 cylinder V228 engines at its Erie, Pa., facility. GE’s V228 family includes the 8V228, 12V228 and 16V228 engine configurations, for power ranges from 1,400 horsepower (hp)/1,004 kilowatts (kW) to 4,500 hp/3,355 kW. These four-stroke, turbo-charged and after-cooled medium-speed diesels are designed for the most demanding applications.

GE Diesel Engines for Pesquera Diamante

GE Transportation, in conjunction with its distributor Marinsa Peru, S.A., will supply Pesquera Diamante S.A., in Peru, with 7FDM medium-speed diesel engines. The engines will be used to power newly constructed boats and to repower Pesquera Diamante's entire fleet of purseine net fishing boats. GE will deliver 8-cylinder units rated at 1,400 brake horsepower (bhp) and 12-cylinder models rated at 2,000 bhp. New vessel construction and repowering of the Pesquera Diamante fleet has already begun, and will continue over a four-year period. All the diesel engines will be manufactured at GE's Grove City, Pa., facility. Several of the engines for Pesquera Diamante will be shipped in 2005, while the remainder will be delivered over the next four years.
