Schlumberger, Cameron Merger Complete

Schlumberger Limited (NYSE:SLB) announced today that it has closed its merger with Cameron International Corporation. As previously announced, each Cameron stockholder is entitled to receive 0.716 shares of Schlumberger common stock and $14.44 in cash, in exchange for each Cameron share. Schlumberger has issued approximately 138 million shares pursuant to the merger. As a result, former Cameron stockholders own approximately 10% of Schlumberger’s outstanding shares of common stock. The transaction combines two complementary technology portfolios into a pore-to-pipeline products and services offering to the global oil and gas industry.

Business is so tough for oilfield giants Schlumberger NV and Halliburton Co that they have come up with a new sales pitch for crude producers halting work in the worst downturn in years. The moves by the world's No. 1 and No. 2 oil services companies show how they are scrambling to book sales of new technologies to customers short of cash after a 60 percent slide in crude to $45 a barrel. In some cases, they are willing to take on the role of traditional lenders, like banks, which have grown reluctant to lend since the price drop that began last summer, or act like producers by taking what are essentially stakes in wells. Schlumberger Announces Q1 Results

Schlumberger Limited (NYSE:SLB) today reported first-quarter 2014 revenue from continuing operations of $11.24 billion versus $11.91 billion in the fourth quarter of 2013, and $10.57 billion in the first quarter of 2013. Income from continuing operations attributable to Schlumberger, excluding charges and credits, was $1.59 billion—a decrease of 11% sequentially but an increase of 23% year-on-year. quarter of 2013.
