HII Wins USS Columbus Submarine Repair Work

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) announced that its Newport News Shipbuilding division has been awarded a $219 million modification to a previously awarded contract to execute maintenance and modernization efforts on the submarine USS Columbus (SSN 762). Contract work includes maintenance, repair, alterations, testing and routine work on the ship’s hull structure, tanks, propulsion systems, electric plant, auxiliary systems, armament and furnishings. Work will begin immediately and is expected to be completed in August 2019.

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) announced today that its Newport News Shipbuilding division has been awarded a $57.8 million contract to perform planning in support of maintenance and modernization efforts on the submarine USS Columbus (SSN 762). If all contract options are exercised, the total value of the work would be $288 million. Contract work will include maintenance and restoration of the ship's hull structure, tanks, propulsion systems, electric plant, auxiliary systems, armament and furnishings, as well as numerous ship alterations.

Newport News Shipbuilding Bags US Navy Submarine Contract

The U.S. Navy has given Newport News Shipbuilding a $106 million contract to provide engineering and industrial support for submarines. Huntington Ingalls Industries, parent company of Newport News Shipbuilding, said the contract will be worth a total of $564 million, as the special mission submersibles, submarine support facilities and related programs are also covered by the contract. Newport News Shipbuilding is one of only two U.S. shipyards capable of building nuclear-powered submarines and has completed hundreds of ship repair projects for the government, ranging from paint repair to complete hull and machinery renovation. Bob Koerber, general manager of BAE Systems Ship Repair in San Diego, served on active duty as a surface warfare officer from 1981 to 1987, then continued to serve as a Navy Reservist, retiring as a captain in 2007. His last reserve assignment was as the Deputy Commander of Naval Special Warfare Command. As a SWO he served aboard USS Hull (DD 945?) and USS Brooke (FFG 1). He has been employed by the San Diego yard for 27 years. What’s new here in San Diego? A lot of good things happening in the yard.

HII Gets USN Submarine Engineering & Industrial Work Contract

Huntington Ingalls Industries' Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) division awarded the $142.7 million contract from the U.S. Navy. The contract option is for work on operational and decommissioning U.S. Navy submarines, conversion submarines, special mission submersibles, submarine support facilities and related programs. NNS is the prime contractor for the work, which will include engineering, design, configuration management, integrated logistic support, database management, research and development, modernization and industrial support. Northrop Grumman $25M for Submarine Maintenance

Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has been awarded a fixed price contract valued at $25m from the U.S. Navy for the preparation and completion of a dry dock continuous maintenance availability of USS Albany (SSN 753). The company's Shipbuilding sector in Newport News is the prime contractor and will provide advance planning, design, engineering, procurement, ship-checks, fabrication and preliminary shipyard work as well as all necessary alterations, repairs, maintenance, modernization, testing and routine work required to return the submarine to the fleet.
