Outreach Offshore Expands Dealer Network

U.K.-based equipment supplier Outreach Offshore Ltd announced Cedar Marine Ltd and Engineered Marine Systems Ltd will join its network of dealers offering PALFINGER Marine products.Engineered Marine Systems (EMS) specializes in the design, supply and integration of marine systems and products across multiple sectors in the industry including workboats, ferries, superyachts and expedition vessels, while Cedar Marine provides survey, technical and commercial support services for clients with a focus on future sustainability within the broad marine sector. Palfinger to Replace Six Large Lifeboat Stations

Palfinger Marine has been chosen as the supplier for the replacement of six large lifeboat stations for the accommodation vessel Edda Fides. “We have been working closely with Edda Accoommodation on this project and found the best technical solution for their needs. Edda Accommodation’s request was to increase the lifeboat capacity as much as possible so that they are able to meet requirements from their customers worldwide,” says Robin Holmedal Pedersen, Area Sales Manager LSE. Palfinger Marine’s scope of delivery consists of six large, totally enclosed lifeboats with accompanying davits.

Styrk Bekkenes, President of Palfinger Marine, has stepped down from his position. “With the strengths that lie within the company, both in terms of personnel and products, Palfinger Marine is very well positioned to be the preferred supplier of cranes, lifesaving equipment and winches for vessels and installations worldwide. I feel that the time is right for me to step down and seek new challenges,” said Bekkenes. Coming from the role of CEO of Harding Safety, Styrk has been the President of Palfinger Marine since January of this year.

World Record Lifeboat Boarding

The first full scale boarding test of the world’s largest lifeboat, Palfinger Marine's new flagship for the cruise industry, landed the company a new world record. In 2015 Palfinger Marine won the impressive contract for delivery of 24 tenders, 12 lifeboats, 36 davits and six rescue boat stations to a series of cruise ships being built by STX France. The complete lifesaving package is now in production, and April 20 marked a huge milestone for the project: The crucial full scale boarding test of the new MPC 49 – the world’s largest and Palfinger Marine's flagship lifeboat.

Tersan Shipyard Orders Deck Equipment

PALFINGER MARINE and Harding Safety recently signed a contract to provide lifesaving equipment and cranes for two fishing vessels being built in Tersan Shipyard. Each vessel will be equipped with two PALFINGER MARINE knuckle boom cranes, one A-frame fast rescue boat davit, and one fast rescue boat. Harding Safety, which was acquired by PALFINGER in June of this year, will be supplying the fast rescue boats. This contract represents the first results of the  Joining Forces strategy. Palfinger Wins Deck Equipment Package

Palfinger Marine signed a contract with Turkish shipyard Cemre to supply a deck equipment package to a Havyard 832 MPV vessel being built for Esvagt. The package from Palfinger consists of cranes, winches and offshore equipment. The MPV will measure 81.9 x 17.16 m, with a  deck area of 620 sq. m., a speed of 15 knots and a bollard pull of 100 tons. The delivery of the equipment is scheduled for 2017.

Harmony of the Seas Equipped with PALFINGER Crane

The world’s largest cruise ship, Harmony of the Seas, is equipped with a PALFINGER MARINE foldable knuckle boom crane. A follow-up order for an identical crane and cruise ship is already received. The vessels was built at STX in St. Nazaire, France and has a PK 150002 M marine crane placed in the center of the top deck, one of 18 decks in total. The 362,10 meters long Harmony of the Seas can accommodate 6.780 guests in total. The PK 150002 M has an outreach of 27 meters and is fully DNV certified.

PALFINGER Finalizes Harding Acquisition

The PALFINGER Group closed the acquisition of 100 percent of the shares in Herkules Harding Holding AS, i.e. the globally operating Harding Group, supplier of lifesaving equipment and lifecycle services for maritime installations and ships. The PALFINGER Group’s new member will be reported on as a fully consolidated company starting from the second quarter of 2016. As a consequence of the acquisition – the largest in the history of the PALFINGER Group – PALFINGER expands its marine business by adding new products and a global service network.

PALFINGER Awarded 15-vessel Winch Contract

PALFINGER MARINE Winches and Offshore Equipment has signed a contract for the supply of complete winch packages to 15 Module Carrier Vessels being built for Topaz Energy and Marine. The vessels, of VARD 9 21 design, are developed by Vard Design to navigate the shallow river systems as they transport modules through the Russian waterways to oilfields in Kazakhstan. Measuring 123 by 16.5 meters, the vessels are designed to carry high deck loads of up to 1,800 tons. he vessels will be operated by Topaz through a consortium led by Blue Water Shipping for the end-client Tengizchevroil.

Harding Sold to Palfinger

The PALFINGER Group has signed today the acquisition of 100 per cent of the shares in Herkules Harding Holding AS and thus, the globally operating Harding Group. The seller is the Norwegian private equity fund Herkules. Harding is one of the leading suppliers of lifesaving equipment and lifecycle services for maritime installations and ships. Through this acquisition, PALFINGER will add new products and an international service network to its marine business. The final closing of this acquisition of Harding by PALFINGER is contingent on the approval of the authorities. Both parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. Today, Austria's Palfinger Group announced that it intends to acquire 100% of the shares in Herkules Harding Holding AS and thus, the globally operating Harding Group. Palfinger Equipment Package for Kreuz Subsea’s New Vessel

Palfinger Marine has been contracted to deliver lifesaving equipment and a winch package for Kreuz Subsea’s newbuild vessel, a Vard 317 design. The vessel for the Singapore-based integrated offshore subsea service provider Kreuz Subsea is designed and constructed by Vard. Palfinger Marine has expanded its product portfolio with the acquisition of Norwegian Deck Machinery AS (NDM), stating NDM’s position within the design and development of deck winches and handling equipment for the oil and gas as well as the marine market will be an important factor for the company’s future strategy. NDM will be integrated into Palfinger Marine as a winches business unit, joining the company’s existing business units for marine cranes, offshore cranes, launch and recovery systems, as well as boats and wind cranes.

PALFINGER Sells Offshore Crane Package to Aker Solutions

PALFINGER MARINE has sold a package of three travelling cranes and two foldable knuckle boom cranes to Aker Solutions for the use at the Mariner platform. The Mariner platform will be established at the Mariner field, which is located on the East Shetland Platform of the U.K. North Sea. The main operator of the field is Statoil. Production is expected to commence in 2017. The platform will convey an average of 55,000 barrels of oil per day. PALFINGER DREGGEN is delivering two TKU25 underslung travelling cranes with a safe working load (SWL) of 25 t and a span of 14 m and one TKU75 underslung travelling crane with SWL of 75 t and a 14 m span as well. Both cranes are DNV certified. The TKU75 is designed to transfer the blowout preventer (BOP) and its subassemblies.

Palfinger Delivers Two Offshore Cranes

Archer, the global oilfield service provider, has secured a contract with Statoil for the permanent plugging and abandonment of 12 gas wells on the Heimdal field in the Norwegian North Sea. Archer has selected the German rig manufacturer MAX STREICHER GmbH & Co. KG aA for its VDD 400.2 -TOPAZ modular drilling rig to decommission and seal existing bore holes. The VDD 400.2 has been developed in accordance with the NORSOK Norwegian safety standards. The whole rig consists of modules that do not exceed 12 metric tons and is cost effective due to quick erection and dismantling of the rig using the drilling platform’s own cranes. PALFINGER MARINE will support this innovative drilling solution with two offshore cranes: the PK 23500 M knuckle boom crane and the PKM 700 T pipe handling crane.

New Offshore Crane Joint Venture: Palfinger Koch

Palfinger Dreggen and the Brazilian crane manufacturer Koch Metalúrgica have entered into joint venture Palfinger Koch  for manufacturing offshore cranes in Brazil. Palfinger Dreggen has concluded an agreement with partner Koch Metalúrgica for entering into a joint venture named Palfinger Koch Montagens Industriais Ltda. for the purpose of joint assembly, testing and commissioning of offshore cranes in Brazil. The joint venture is based on an already existing and successful partnership between Palfinger Dreggen do Brasil, based in Rio de Janeiro, and Koch Metalúrgica, located in Cachoeirinha, Rio Grande do Sul. The agreement will strengthen Palfinger Koch’s ability to successfully deliver high-end offshore cranes with local content to the Brazilian offshore market.

Palfinger Ned-Deck and its subsidiary Fast RSQ received an order from Sentinel Marine Ltd. in Aberdeen to supply UKOOA compliant rescue equipment for four emergency response and rescue vessels (ERRVs), which will include one 7 m aluminum fast rescue craft, type FRSQ 700 A; one 10 m aluminum daughter craft, type FRSQ 1000 A; one PRH 35H FRC davit and one PRH 75AP daughter craft davit. “This order allows Palfinger Ned-Deck to maintain its hold on the davit sector for ERRVs and the company has also announced the arrival of its subsidiary Fast RSQ…

Asset Deal: Palfinger Dreggen and MCT Engineering

Palfinger Dreggen finalized the agreement for purchase of the assets in connection with the marine and offshore cranes product areas of the Korean crane manufacturer MCT Engineering Co., Ltd. The acquisition follows Palfinger Marine’s takeover of the Norwegian offshore crane manufacturer and is designed to help expand and intensify the partnership between both companies, which stretches back many years. “With the acquisition of Dreggen in the fourth quarter of 2012, we took a significant growth step for our Business Area Marine. Together, we managed to obtain the largest order in the history of Palfinger in early 2013. It comprises, to be precise, two orders with a total value of approximately €90 million, which we are going to fill in the years to come.

Palfinger Becomes ISO 14001 Certified

ISO 14001:2009 certification by TÜV Süd is considered to be the starting point of the full certification of a management system at Palfinger Marine's  corporate headquarter in Köstendorf. Safety, environmental protection and the highest quality are key values for Palfinger Marine  that can now be demonstrated. It facilitates continual improvements. Since customers are increasingly demanding internationally recognised certification such as ISO 14001, Palfinger Marine  has launched a process to introduce different environmental and management systems. Palfinger Marine's  complex offshore area will benefit in particular from the certification.
