New Oil Tanker Series RS Classed

Two river-sea oil tankers of project RST 22M are to be built to the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) class. A relevant agreement is signed by RS with Armada Shipyard that will construct the ships for the Palmali Group of Companies. At present, RS experts are engaged in the plan approval of the ships. According to the agreement, RS will render classification of the newbuildings and survey under construction for compliance with applicable statutory requirements. RS experts will perform survey of hull construction and the installation of machinery, electrical and automation equipment, and will check the ship compliance with approved technical documentation, all the applicable international and national requirements, as well as participate in the mooring tests and trials.

Robert Allan to Design More OSV Icebreakers

Robert Allan Ltd. was awarded a contract for two new designs of icebreaking OSVs for use in the North Caspian Sea. The contract was awarded to the Vancouver naval architects by the Turkish-based Palmali Group of Companies, and the vessels will be built by Besiktas Shipyard of Altinova, Turkey. Upon delivery the vessels will be chartered to the Lukoil Oil Company of Astrakhan, Russia. Three vessels in total are to be built and delivered by the end of 2014. Each of the new vessel designs will be 80 meters in length and specifically designed for operation in the very shallow, ice covered waters encountered in the Caspian. The vessels will meet the rules of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.

Palmali Launches Tanker

Palmali Group shipping company has put into operation a Suezmax tanker that replenished its overall fleet deadweight. The Company reported that the vessel was named in honor of national leader Heydar Aliyev of Azerbaijan. Its is length 274 m, width 50 m, sea-gauge 17 m. Heydar Aliyev is one of the series of Suezmax last generation built in South Korea. The tanker deal cost $96m. The vessel is designed for transportation of up to 165,000 tons of crude oil and heavy grades of petroleum products with unrestricted sailing area. The major advantage of the new tanker is its performance capability. Main routes start from ports of the Black and Mediterranean Seas running to ports of the United States and South-Eastern Asia. Launching of the next Suezmax tanker is scheduled for November 20.

Palmali Receives Second Tanker

Russia’s Krasnoye Sormovo ship-building factory and Palmali Group shipping company signed a delivery-acceptance certificate on the second tanker, Agdash, of Project 19619. The Factory reported that the tanker was delivered to the customer a month ahead of contract schedule. The first tanker, Masalli, was transferred to Palmali Group this September and the third one will be ready by next November, Krasnoye Sormovo reports. The Project 19619 tankers relate to river-sea vessels. They are equipped with 12 cargo and a slop tanks and has ballast compartments in double board and double bottom. Its length is 150m, width 17.30m, board height 10.5m, deadweight over 13,000 tons.
