Dr. Ricaurte Takes Office as Panama Canal Administrator

Dr. Ricaurte Vásquez Morales was sworn-in during a ceremony held at the Panama Canal Administration Building in Panama City, becoming the fourth Panamanian Administrator of the waterway shortly before it celebrates its 20th year under Panamanian administration on December 31, 2019.Administrator Vásquez an economist with more than 30 years’ experience in the public and private sector said: "Just a few months short of the 20th anniversary of the transfer of the Canal to the Panamanian people, we face a distinctly different reality today. Panama Canal Appoints New Administrator

The Panama Canal Board of Directors announced the appointment of Ricaurte Vasquez as the next Panama Canal Administrator.According to a press note from the artificial 82 km waterway in Panama that connects the Atlantic Ocean with the Pacific Ocean, Vasquez will take office on September 4, 2019, succeeding current Administrator Jorge L. The Panama Canal is celebrating 13 years under Panamanian administration. Ambrey Risk is Awarded Panama-Flagged Vessel

Maritime Security specialist Ambrey Risk has been awarded accreditation to work with Panama-flagged vessels. Panama Canal Appoints Diverse Members to Board

The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) has appointed six new members to its Advisory Board adding it diversity with members from business, transportation, academia and maritime shipping. The Advisory Board was founded in 1999 at the time of the transfer of the Canal to Panamanian administration. The members of the Advisory Board provide strategic counsel to the ACP and the Board of Directors on various important issues that relate to the management and administration of the Canal including finances, insurance, operations and permanent modernization.
