Latest Global Shipbuilding Orders

Shipbuilding orders were rather less the past week, but there were notable contracts for specialised heavy-lift carriers from Chinese shipbuilders, according to the Clarkson Hellas S&P Weekly Bulletin round-up. Limited ordering to report this week in dry say Clarkson, with the focus very much being on the smaller sizes. Starting with the larger of these, Parakou Shipping have declared a further four options for 64,000 DWT Ultramax at Chengxi taking the total series to eight vessels. Delivery of these latest vessels from end 2015. In the Handysize dry bulk carrier market, Interlink have placed a new order for five firm plus five options 38,500 DWT bulkers at Kouan Shipbuilding.

Global Vessel Newbuildings: Latest News

The past week has been another active one, reports Clarkson Hellas S+P Weekly Report, with notable levels of ordering across all sectors. In Dry and whilst understood to have been contracted earlier this year, Clients of Polaris Shipping are reported to have signed three firm 250,000 DWT VLOCs as well as a single 207,000 DWT Newcastlemax at Hyundai Heavy Industries. These will be built at their Samho facility and whilst final pricing is yet to be disclosed, delivery is expected from the third quarter of 2014 and will continue through to early 2015. Parakou Shipping were reported to have contracted four firm SDARI designed 64,000 DWT Ultramax with a further four plus four options attached at Chengxi Shipyard.

OSG Signs Time Charter for Four

Overseas Shipholding Group, Inc. signed an agreement with Parakou Shipping Ltd., an international shipping company based in Hong Kong, to time charter four product carriers for 10 years each. vessels, two of which are already under construction, will be built by STX Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. in Korea and are scheduled for delivery to OSG in September and October 2006 and April and June 2007. The product carriers, all sister ships with a capacity of 51,000 dwt and six segregations, will be able to transport petroleum products, vegetable oils and IMO III chemicals. Delivery of the vessels will increase the number of International and U.S. Flag product carriers in OSG's fleet to 50.
