T&T Salvage Aids Charity’s Efforts Against Malaria

A small feeder container vessel ran aground off the coast of Papua New Guinea. A large part of its cargo consisted of 32 containers of mosquito nets owned by international charitable organization the Rotary Club through their subsidiary Rotarians Against Malaria, a not-for-profit Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) engaged in a program aimed at eliminating Malaria in Papua New Guinea by the use of Long Lasting Insecticidal Mosquito Nets (LLIN’s) which are delivered free of charge to every household in Papua New Guinea. The nets aboard the grounded vessel were not insured and the charity simply did not have the funds to pay a salvage award.

Canada Makes Marine Atlantic Board Appointment

Sharon R. Duggan has been appointed to the board of Marine Atlantic Inc. by the Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities. Marine Atlantic Inc. is a federal Crown corporation that reports to Parliament through the Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities. The corporation provides a constitutionally mandated passenger and commercial marine transportation service between the Island of Newfoundland and the Province of Nova Scotia. Its mission is to provide a safe, environmentally responsible and quality ferry service in a reliable and cost-effective manner. Superior Energy Promotes Harris

Superior Energy Services promoted Paul Harris to international business development manager-Marine Division. Harris has been with Superior’s Marine Division for three years, most recently in overall business development. Harris’s new responsibilities will include increasing Superior’s international presence as well as continuing to maintain domestic business relationships. Before joining Superior, Harris worked for Danos & Curole and the Natco Group in developing trade with the United Kingdom, Nigeria and Canada.
