APM Terminals Pipavav welcomes its largest RoRo carrier

APM Terminals Pipavav welcomed the Hoegh Tracer, one of the world’s largest pure car and truck Carrier (PCTC), and the largest to ever call an Indian port. At 14 decks high, the Hoegh Tracer has a capacity of 8,500 vehicles, and loaded 1,700 cars at Pipavav for export delivery on the Hoegh Middle East, India and Africa (MIAF) Service. APM Terminals Pipavav, in partnership with NYK Auto Logistics (India), opened a dedicated common user integrated RoRo terminal in August of 2015, with a capacity of 250,000 vehicles annually. The port is equipped to accommodate 4,500 to 5,000 cars and a Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) facility. There is also a mobilization yard for 150 cars, with a capacity to accommodate approximately 500 cars on the Quay.

RoRo Operations Start at APM Terminals Pipavav

APM Terminals Pipavav (Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd) and NYK Auto Logistics (India) today announced the commencement of RORO operations at Pipavav Port. Ford Motors India Pvt Ltd dispatched the first lot of its new Ford FIGO built in its Sanand plant in Gujarat for exports. The first RoRo vessel, m.v.Grand Dahlia, berthed at Pipavav on August 26 and loaded 1,300 vehicles. Officials from APM Terminals, NYK Auto Logistics and Ford Motors welcomed the vessel and marked the inauguration of RoRo operations with a simple ceremony held on board. The vessel departed this morning after successful completion of operations. APM Terminals Pipavav currently has three business verticals under its service portfolio which include container, bulk and liquid cargo.

Peel Ports Enters 10-year Deal with Volkswagen

Peel Ports Group said it sees the automotive sector as a major growth opportunity and is working continually to provide vehicle manufacturers, logistics companies and shipping lines with world-class facilities and systems. The latest example is Peel Ports Medway’s new partnership with the Volkswagen Group UK Ltd. to build and oversee a new eight-acre Pre Delivery Inspection (PDI) Center at the Port of Sheerness. The investment will create 100 supply chain jobs and increase automobile imports into Sheerness by 50,000 vehicles annually.
