Newark Container Terminal Handles Record Volumes

Port Newark Container Terminal (PNCT) handled a record number of container volumes without disruption to its customers following its January 2017 upgrade to the N4 terminal system. The move to Navis N4 is part of PNCT’s $500 million infrastructure modernization project that is expected to nearly double the terminal’s capacity by 2019. Located within the Port of New York and New Jersey—the largest port on the East Coast and third largest in the U.S.—PNCT is among the most important terminals responsible for moving cargo throughout the nation and abroad, handling 1.3 million TEUs annually.

Enterprise Contracts to Boost U.S. Crude Exports

Enterprise bumps up exports through annual contracts; signs 2015 contracts with PDS, Vitol; seeks one more term buyer. U.S. exports of condensate have been given an important boost after pipeline company Enterprise Products Partners LP agreed annual contracts with at least two major trading companies to sell the light crude, trade sources said. Oil producers have been pressing to lift a 40-year-old U.S. ban on crude exports and the Department of Commerce broke its year-long silence in December and began approving a backlog of requests to sell processed light oil abroad. Enterprise is selling 40,000 barrels per day (bpd) under the contracts, which should give it a headstart before other firms get the nod to export condensate produced from shale operations.

Intergraph, informs that international engineering and project management company AMEC has chosen to upgrade its investment in PDS® to Intergraph Smart 3D technology by transferring its existing PDS perpetual licenses to Smart 3D licenses. Intergraph explains that AMEC is a longtime user of its solutions and is committed to establishing global expertise in Smart 3D, Intergraph's next-generation, data-centric and rule-driven 3D design tool. AMEC will implement Smart 3D across its enterprise to capture new business and support existing projects. Jacek Morawski, AMEC Americas director of engineering, said, "AMEC has been a longtime supporter of Intergraph solutions.

Northrop Grumman Maintenance Contract, Peter Döhle Ships

Northrop Grumman Corporation’s (NYSE: NOC) Sperry Marine business unit has been awarded a one-year contract by Peter Döhle Schiffahrts-KG (PDS-KG) and HAMMONIA Reederei (a joint venture between PDS-KG, HCI Capital AG and GE Transportation Finance, Inc.) to provide worldwide service and maintenance for more than 135 ships. Under the contract, Northrop Grumman Sperry Marine will be responsible for all shipboard service, support and maintenance of the ships’ navigation and communication equipment, including repairs, spares management and required annual inspections and certifications.

Polish Shipyard Gets Orders For Seven Ships

Poland's Szczecin shipyard has reportedly signed a contract for seven container vessels ordered jointly by Chilean firm Compania Chilena Sud America de Vapores (CSAV) and German company Peter Dohle Schiffahrtskontor GmbH&Co (PDS). Sobecki officials did not give the value of the contract, saying only the shipyard has contracts for 38 different vessels to be delivered by 2002, with a total value of $1.35 billion.
