Tørstad Named DNV GL - Oil & Gas CEO

Elisabeth Tørstad has been appointed CEO in DNV GL - Oil & Gas. She took on the role from January 2014, operating from the company’s Oil & Gas headquarter in Oslo. “I am very pleased to announce that Elisabeth Tørstad has accepted this role. While forecasts of financial gloom dominate mainstream news casts, there is an emerging feeling of optimism in fo the near term prospects for the oil and gas business. Oil and gas industry leaders have forecast improved performance and higher levels of capital expenditure this year, despite concerns over global economic instability, according to a new report on the future of the sector. Increased investment across the industry will focus on exploration activity, with North America emerging as the area with the greatest opportunities in 2012.

Delegates at the World Petroleum Congress believe the oil and gas industry is not doing enough to encourage future generations to join the sector, according to research from GL Noble Denton. Oil and gas professionals are upbeat about the future of North Sea operations, Offshore Europe poll reveals. 57% of delegates at Offshore Europe expect investment in the North Sea oil and gas industry to increase in 2012, according to Economist Intelligence Unit research commissioned by GL Noble Denton. Merger Approved: Noble Denton, GL

The Norwegian cartel authority Konkurransetilsynet has approved the merger of Noble Denton with Germanischer Lloyd (GL). The two companies had announced their merger on 1 April 2009. Together, Germanischer Lloyd and Noble Denton will form a global technical assurance and consulting company to serve the oil and gas sector. The purchase of Noble Denton is the largest corporate acquisition in the history of Germanischer Lloyd. Germanischer Lloyd and Noble Denton will provide consulting, assurance as well as project management on a worldwide scale especially for the oil & gas and renewable energy sectors as well as for the maritime industry. The spectrum of services ranges from design and construction, transportation and installation.
