BHP Billiton, Pemex sign Trion Contract

BHP Billiton has advanced its exploration and production interests in the Gulf of Mexico by executing a contract with PEMEX Exploration & Production Mexico (Pemex) to complete work on the significant Trion discovery in Mexico. In December 2016, BHP Billiton successfully bid on the resource that, once fully appraised, is expected to be in the top 10 fields discovered in the Gulf of Mexico in the last decade. The agreement includes a commitment to deliver a Minimum Work Program, which consists of drilling one appraisal well, one exploration well and the acquisition of additional seismic data. Keppel FELS Delivers 11th Jackup to Mexico

Keppel FELS Limited (Keppel FELS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), has delivered a KFELS B Class jackup rig to Mexican national oil company, Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX), safely, on time and on budget. The rig was named Kukulkan by Lady Sponsor Mrs Valerie Pahl-Hernandez, wife of Mr Gustavo Hernandez Garcia, Director General of PEMEX Exploration & Production, at a ceremony at Keppel FELS this evening. Kukulkan is the second jackup rig Keppel has built directly for PEMEX.

Construction of Flotel Ship for Pemex

GE Oil & Gas Sign GofM Deepwater Contracts

GE Oil & Gas has signed an $84-million agreement with PEMEX Exploration and Production to supply and install subsea wellheads for PEMEX’s deepwater and ultra-deepwater drilling projects in the Gulf of Mexico. The Gulf of Mexico is a strategic zone for the hydrocarbon industry, since it is estimated to hold more than 50 percent of Mexico’s potential or prospective resources. However, such reserves are located in deepwater and ultra-deepwater sites, and advanced technology is needed to extract those resources for the benefit of the country. GE Oil & Gas has become a strategic partner both for PEMEX and for Mexico in the search of new hydrocarbon reserves.

BP Shares Deepwater Well-capping Expertise

Under the Technology License Agreement, BP will make available technical information that PEMEX E&P can use. Petroleos Mexicanos Exploration and Production (PEMEX E&P) and BP's agreement is for the latter to share the technical information it used to build its own global deepwater well-capping equipment. Under the Technology License Agreement, BP will make available technical information that PEMEX E&P, one of four subsidiaries of PEMEX, can use, in addition to PEMEX E&P initiatives already in place, if it decides to build and maintain its own well capping system for use in Mexican waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Lluavi Puts Mexican Shipbuilding on the Map

Strategic Marine Mexico recently launched the second 170.6 ft Crew Boat, the LLuavi, for Arrendadora Ocean Mexicana (Blue Marine). The two 170.6 ft Crew Boats, Aramara and Lluavi, has seen Blue Marine become the only Mexican ship owner to build offshore vessels in Mexico. “Not only is this project a huge achievement for Strategic Marine, but for the Mexican community at large, helping to create over 160 jobs in total. We are confident the Mexican shipping industry will take note, and place a higher priority on in-country investments such as these,” stated Ron F Anderson, Managing Director. Horizon Delivers Two Vessels in Three Days

Horizon Shipbuilding, Inc., Bayou La Batre, Ala., has met a major corporate milestone by delivering the M/V John Grimsley #59 on Saturday, October 10, 2009 and the M/V Isla San Luis on Tuesday, October 13, 2009. The M/V John Grimsley #59 designed by John Gilbert, is a 140-ft long by 42-ft wide, 9.2-ft draft, towboat vessel that is four-decked and is outfitted for service in areas restricted to overhead clearances and draft limitations. She is powered by two EMD 710 12 CYL engines driving 99” propellers through Nico MGN 5023Z gearboxes. There are two Cummins generators to support ship’s power.

Vessels Built in Private Mexican Yard

After more than 20 years without a ship built in private Mexican shipyards, Blue Marine introduced two quick intervention provider ships which have been fully constructed in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, with the latest technology. Blue Marine, with an investment exceeding $160m, became the only Mexican shipping company that builds offshore boats in México. This deep Mexican root is also transmitted in the boats names, Aramara and Lluavi, two Huichol words in Spanish translates as “place of where our ancestors sail” and “blue.” In addition, both ships will have the Mexican flag.

Global Awarded PEMEX Contract

Global Industries, Ltd. said that subsidiary Global Offshore Mexico S. de R.L. de C.V. received a letter of intent from PEMEX Exploration & Production to install three 20-inch diameter pipelines and nine 12-inch diameter pipelines as part of the EPC-77 Project in the Cantarell Field. The field is located in Mexico's Bay of Campeche. The Project is valued at approximately $100 million and scheduled to be completed by the end of the first quarter 2005. William J. Doré, Chairman and CEO, stated, "The project will utilize our vessels Hercules, Shawnee, and Pioneer. This award reflects the significant level of project activity in the Bay of Campeche."

Passenger Carries Hurt

American Classic Voyages Co. subsidiaries Delta Queen will trim its upcoming cruise schedule by a combined total of 27 cruises. Delta Queen Coastal Voyages will eliminate three cruises in 2001. Also, the 2002 summer and fall schedule of the 174-passenger Delta Queen will be enhanced to meet passenger demand for more variety. Moody's Investors Service confirmed the A2 senior ratings of Carnival Corporation, but changed the rating outlook to negative reflecting the uncertain economic and industry conditions that the company faces in the wake of the attacks on the U.S. Moody's believes the events of September 11 will further stress industry conditions that were already suffering from price weakness.

Pemex Deepwater Gas Field May Begin Output in 2013

Petroleos Mexicanos, the third- biggest oil supplier to the U.S., may begin production by 2013 or 2014 at the natural-gas field Lakach in the Gulf of Mexico, Bloomberg reported. Production at Lakach, discovered last year in waters almost a kilometer deep, will take longer than at Pemex's shallow-water fields, which require two to three years before they deliver gas, said Vinicio Suro, managing director of planning and evaluation at Pemex's exploration and production unit, on a conference call. Pemex also plans to increase drilling in Chicontepec, a field located across four southern states characterized by small pockets of oil that require thousands of wells to exploit.
