Japanese Trio Orders Wind Turbine Installer

Penta-Ocean Construction, Kajima Corporation, and Yorigami Maritime Construction have agreed to jointly construct a wind farm installation vessel capable of installing foundations and turbines with a capacity of between 10MW and 12MW.The three Japanese companies have ordered a jack-up vessel with a 1600-tonne lifting capacity for work in the domestic offshore wind sector.The multipurpose self-elevating platform (SEP) ship holding company will be established as a subsidiary of Penta-Ocean Construction Co., Ltd. and it will be operated jointly by the three companies.In light of the enactment of relevant regulations which promote offshore wind power generation in the general sea areas in addition to the port and harbor areas…

Singapore Starts Tuas Terminal Phase 2

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has announced that reclamation work for Tuas Terminal Phase 2 began ysterday (4 July), with the installation of the first caisson.Singapore’s next-generation trade hub has commenced at a ceremony attended by Dr. Lam Pin Min, Singapore’s Senior Minister of State for Transport and Health.MPA awarded the Tuas Terminal Phase 2 reclamation project to Penta-Ocean Construction Co. Ltd/Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co. Ltd/Boskalis International BV (PHB) Joint Venture in 2018. This is the largest of the four phases to be reclaimed at 387 hectares. The 8.6 km wharf structure will be constructed with 227 caissons that will be fabricated on site. All container operations in Singapore will be consolidated at Tuas Terminal by the 2040s.

Singapore Awards Another $1.1 Bln for Mega-port Project

Reliability boost for Cutter Dredger Cassiopeia V

Wärtsilä will provide extensive technical support and advisory services for Singapore-based large cutter dredger Cassiopeia V. The five-year Technical Management Agreement includes Dynamic Maintenance Planning (DMP) and is complemented by Advanced Technical Support to ensure the reliability and availability of the vessel. The cooperation between Wärtsilä and Cassiopeia Five Pte Ltd, which owns and operates the vessel Cassiopeia V, began in 2015 with Wärtsilä's Advanced Technical Support. The Advanced Technical Support (ATS) covers extensive proactive technical information, service and advice to the ship crew by a dedicated Wärtsilä Services team. The new agreement expands the partnership between Wärtsilä and Cassiopeia Five Pte Ltd.

Cutter Suction Dredger Launched in Singapore

On Monday, October 7, Cutter Suction Dredger Cassiopeia V was launched by ASL shipyard in Singapore for Penta-Ocean Construction Co. Ltd from Japan. VOSTA LMG is responsible for delivery of the engineering and the dredging equipment. The Cassiopeia V is a self propelled Cutter Suction Dredger equipped with three dredge pumps, flexible spud carrier system, anchor booms, barge loading installation and a traveling deck crane. It is diesel electric driven and propelled by means of two azimuth thrusters.

Landmark Bridge Opens in Singapore

Singapore’s new landmark bridge at the southern waterfront, Keppel Bay Bridge, was named and opened by His Excellency S R Nathan, President of Singapore.
