BASS introduced the BASSnet 2.9 Fleet Management System during the recent Asia Pacific Maritime event in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. BASSnet 2.9 now features new modules such as Environmental Management, Port Forms Management and Excel Forms Management. In the era where messaging tools are increasing in popularity, the 2.9 release also features the ‘My Discussions’ feature which allows Users to a create topics of discussions in a ‘chat room’ style environment in relation to specific records in the System.

BASS, a global provider of fleet management software for ship owners and ship managers as well as operators of rigs and floating production, storage and offloading vessels (FPSOs) and offshore units, introduced the BASSnet 2.9 Fleet Management System during the 13th edition of the Asia Pacific Maritime event in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. BASS Software Ltd, a leading provider of maritime software solutions, has added a top ranking customer to its expanding customer base with the German shipping giant Hapag-Lloyd AG choosing its fleet management systems. BASS has secured ownership of BASS (Hong Kong) Ltd. from former parent-company, Wilhelmsen Maritime Services (WMS). The BASS management team used additional financing to complete the agreement, which includes the company's controlling interest (34 percent) in Star Information Systems, a maritime software provider based in Norway. In addition, BASS will continue to provide Barber Ship Management, a unit of WMS, with fleet management software, which accounts for 20 per cent of BASS' annual turnover. The two companies have recently agreed on a four year contract for software and services to support Barber Ship Management in the highly competitive ship-management market.

In sync with their objective of “training seafarers using quality software”, BASS and the Norwegian Training Center (NTC-M) in Manila have agreed to establish hands-on training experience for seafarers as the industry moves towards adopting ICT (Information and Communications Technology). BASS will contribute by installing their integrated shipboard applications in a simulated environment in NTC-M while the training center will conduct training based upon actual operation between ship and office. The configuration of such training mechanism is said to benefit the seafarers as learning gets easier this way.
