Eight Robert Allan Tugs for Persero

PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III (Persero) has taken delivery of the first eight, of a total 15, RAzer ASD tugs designed by Robert Allan Ltd. The two RAzer 2960, two RAzer 2935 and four RAzer 2940 tugs are part of a major terminal expansion and fleet renewal program undertaken by Pelindo III in its operational territory. The RAzer 2960s and RAzer 2935s were built by PT Daya Radar Utama Shipyards in Jakarta, Indonesia, and the RAzer 2940s were built by PT Dumas Tanjung Perak Shipyards in Surabaya, Indonesia. These will be the first Robert Allan Ltd. tugs to be designed specifically to operate from major ports in Indonesia, including the new container port of Terminal Teluk Lamong, near Surabaya.

Malaysian-built Fisheries Research Vessel for Bangladesh

The Sumber Samudra Sdn. Bhd. of Perak, Malaysia recently delivered a 37.8-meter fisheries research and survey vessel. Built for the Bangladesh Department of Fisheries, the R/V Meen Shandhani completed official sea trials in June 2015. Additional trials for the fishing gear were carried out in late 2015. With all trials complete, the vessel crews will receive training as a part of the build package. After making her delivery trip to her homeport of Chittagong, Bangladesh she will undertake fisheries research in the Bay of Bengal.

Pelindo III to Receive 15 Tugs in Indonesia

In early 2015, Robert Allan Ltd., Naval Architects of Vancouver, Canada was awarded a contract to provide four customized versions of its distinctive RAzer series designs of ASD tugboats to the Indonesia Port Corporation, “PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III (PERSERO)”, commonly known as Pelindo III. While Robert Allan Ltd. had long been very active in the Asian market, these designs were its first directly for a company from Indonesia, a country estimated to employ more than 2,000 tug boats.

Indonesian Ports to Allow Foreign-flagged Cruise Ships

Indonesia’s government has given the go-ahead for foreign-flagged cruise ships to stop over in five of the country’s largest ports. Previously, such vessels could only dock at one port, Benoa Bali, and passengers who wished to travel to other ports had to go back to Singapore to do so. As per the Ministry of Transportation Decree 121 No.PM 2015, the five ports which have now been assessed to be able to accommodate and serve foreign cruise ships are: Tanjung Priok/Jakarta, Tanjung Perak/Surabaya, Belawan/Medan, Ujungpandan/Makassar, and Benoa/Bali. Container Ship and LPG Tanker Collide near Surabaya

LPG tanker Navigator Aries (23,333 dwt, built 2008), and containership Leo Perdana (33,423 dwt, built 2007) collided yesterday in waters off Gresik, nearby the Port of Tunjung Perak in Surabaya, Indonesia. The collision caused a fire on the 2008-built tanker, which was quickly put out by the crew. The tanker, owned by Navigator Gas, suffered a 5-meter breach on its port side. The tanker suffered large breach in the port side and caught fire, which was quickly extinguished. During the collision there were no injured crew, but both ships were seriously damages and small quantity of fuel spilled into the water. Four tugs were dispatched at the scene of the accident and towed the Navigator Aries to anchorage on 10 nautical miles off Gresik.

Indonesia: Port Operation to Go Online in September

The Indonesian government is expected to start operation of a new online system at the country’s four major ports in September this year. The operation of the long awaited Inaportnet system, which will allow traders to request clearances and permits online to move cargoes will be operational by September this year, according to the Transportation Ministry's sea transportation director general, Bobby Mamahit. Tanjung Priok port has already operated the system since last year and it is expected to be integrated into the country’s three other main seaports, namely Belawan in North Sumatra, Makassar in South Sulawesi and Tanjung Perak in East Java.

Tenaga Raises Offer Price for Port Operator

Tenaga Nasional Bhd , Malaysia's largest power group, said on Wednesday it has raised the takeover price for Integrax Bhd by 18.2 percent after a leading shareholder of the port operator rejected its offer. Tenaga, which counts Malaysia's state investor Khazanah as a major shareholder, upped the takeover price to 3.25 ringgit per share from 2.75 ringgit previously, bringing the total value of the deal to some 761 million ringgit ($211 million). The revised offer was the price Perak Corporation Bhd , the second largest shareholder in Integrax with a 15.74 percent stake, suggested in a local stock exchange filing on Monday. Tenaga Hits Opposition to Port Operator Move

Tenaga Nasional Bhd , Malaysia's largest power group, hit an obstacle in its attempt to take over Integrax Bhd after a leading shareholder of the port operator rejected its offer on Monday. Perak Corporation Bhd, which holds 15.74 percent stake in Integrax, said in a local stock exchange filing that its board would only suggest its shareholders approve the deal if the offer was raised to 3.25 ringgit per share. Tenaga, the largest Integrax shareholder with a 22.12 percent stake, on Jan. 9 offered 644.22 million ringgit ($176.88 million) or 2.75 ringgit per share to buy the remaining shares in Integrax it does not already own. The 3.25 ringgit per share counter offer was the highest in the indicative equity valuation range by Affin Hwang Investment Bank Bhd…

Repower for Dutch-Indonesian Docking Tug

Tugs have a way of moving around over the years. While the Indonesians bult copious numbers of tugs themselves, the government run port operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III is the owner of a fine big Dutch-built tug, KT Anoman V. Pertamina Orders Six Oil Tankers

According to an August 9 report from The Jakarta Post, state oil and gas firm PT Pertamina has placed orders for six tankers for about $102m to support its fuel distribution across the archipelago. The domestic manufacturers who won the tender were PT PAL Indonesia, PT Dok dan Perkapalan Surabaya (DPS), PT Daya Radar Utama (DRU) and PT Dumas Tanjung Perak Shipyard. (Source: The Jakarta Post)

New Patrol Boat for Indonesia

Since 1980, PT Dumas Tanjung Perak Shipyard in East Java has build dozens of vessels for various departments of the Indonesian Government. Their most recent delivery, the Hiu Macan Turul 401, was designed and built for the Department Kelautan Dan Perkanan. The vessels 42.5 length and seven-meter beam provides accommodation for up to 18 people. Propulsion power is provided by two Cummins QSK60-M engines each producing 2500 HP at 1900 RPM. The engines turn into Twin Disc MGX 5600 gears with 3.51:1 ratios. The boats 1540 by 1659 m/m propellers were provided by Singapores Asia Foundry.

KTK Takes Delivery of its First Stan Tug 4011

On Friday, April 2, 2010, R.J. Lopez Ramirez (Managing Director CPA/CPT) accepted on behalf of Kompania di Tou Korsou (KTK) the delivery of the Damen Stan Tug 4011, Orca VI, in the port of Tanjung Perak, Surabaya, Indonesia. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Alexis Daou (Chairman of the Supervisory Board of CPA/CPT). After the ceremony the vessel demonstrated some of her great capacities in the impressive port of Tanjung Perak. With its 70 metric tons of bollard pull and excellent autonomy, the Orca VI will boost to KTK’s capabilities in the international towing and salvage business.

Malaysian Patrol Vessels: Boats in a Box

"We fit ten 11.3-meter patrol boats in three 40-foot containers," says Chee Chong Sow, Managing Director of Malaysia’’s Sumber Samudra shipyard. Smiling, he goes on to explain that the boats were designed by International Maritime Consultants of Fremantle Australia and their aluminum was cut in Australia so that their total weight of 50 to 60 tons fit handily into the three containers. The ten boats were fabricated at the versatile Sumber Samudra yard in the state of Perak at Teluk Intan that also works in fiberglass and steel.

Oil Spills Pollute Jakarta Waters

The waters in the Kepulauan Seribu Seribu National Park (TNKS) in the Java Sea north of Jakarta were last week polluted by oil spills from oil rigs of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) and BP Indonesia or from passing tankers, Antara reported. The TNKS authority has caused the oil spills from rigs of the Chinese company and the subsidiary of United Kingdom-based BP (British Petroleum) or passing tankers had been polluting the waters around Putri and Perak islets since Feb 18. The TNKS had also found that the polluted area was widening as the oil spills were also spotted in waters around Putri Timur and Bira Besar islets on Feb 19. The pollutants reportedly had also made the waters around Putri Barat, Kayu Angin Bira, Belanda, Petondan and Pelangi islets dirty.

Samudra to Build Two New Tankers

E.A. Technique (M) Sdn Bhd (EAT) has appointed Sumber Samudra Sdn Bhd (Samudra) to design and construct two new tankers as part of its fleet expansion exercise, according to a report on www.biz.thestar.com. The company expects to take delivery of the first 4,200 dwt product tanker by the first half of 2007, followed by a 6,000 dwt chemical tanker six months after that. Perak-based Samudra has completed two harbor tugs and a security boat for EAT since 2004. The new vessels, which will be financed through bank borrowings, will increase EAT's fleet to 10 ships from the current eight. (Source: www.biz.thestar.com)
