Frontline Buys Six VLCCs Under Construction
Tanker shipping company Frontline on Tuesday announced it has acquired six very large crude carrier (VLCC) newbuilds currently under construction at the Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard in South Korea.The six ECO-type VLCC contracts are being acquired for an aggregate purchase price of $565.8 million, including an estimated $25.7 million in additions and upgrades to the standard specifications, the company said.Lars H. StormGeo and DNV GL signed an agreement to consolidate their fleet performance solutions under the StormGeo name, combining DNV GL’s ECO Insight and Navigator Insight solutions with StormGeo’s FleetDSS and ship reporting solutions. The fleet performance centers, delivery, product development, and sales will be managed by StormGeo. The Norwegian company Seatrans Ship Management has signed up 20 vessels to the DNV GL fleet performance management solution ECO Insight.
