Frontline Buys Six VLCCs Under Construction

Tanker shipping company Frontline on Tuesday announced it has acquired six very large crude carrier (VLCC) newbuilds currently under construction at the Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard in South Korea.The six ECO-type VLCC contracts are being acquired for an aggregate purchase price of $565.8 million, including an estimated $25.7 million in additions and upgrades to the standard specifications, the company said.Lars H. MAN Unveils New TCT Turbocharger

MAN Energy Solutions has unveiled its new TCT axial turbocharger series specifically optimised for Tier III operation, suitable for both conventional and dual-fuelled, two- and four-stroke engines.The TCT series has been introduced to accompany and – eventually – replace the TCA generation whose design has been continuously updated since its introduction but is now some 15 years old. StormGeo, DNV GL Strike Fleet Management Deal

StormGeo and DNV GL signed an agreement to consolidate their fleet performance solutions under the StormGeo name, combining DNV GL’s ECO Insight and Navigator Insight solutions with StormGeo’s FleetDSS and ship reporting solutions. The fleet performance centers, delivery, product development, and sales will be managed by StormGeo. By the numbers this will include a combined fleet of more than 12,000 vessels that will re-ceive a daily service from StormGeo.The agreement is subject to the fulfillment of certain customary closing conditions.

Seatrans Ship Management and DNV GL ink ECO Insight contract

The Norwegian company Seatrans Ship Management has signed up 20 vessels to the DNV GL fleet performance management solution ECO Insight. The contract covers 13 chemical tankers and seven dry-cargo vessels. “We need to have full insight into the performance of our fleet and use this to continually improve our operations.
