Fire burns out of control at Philadelphia refinery

A fire was burning out of control at an oil refinery in Pennsylvania on Friday morning, a Philadelphia fire department official said, as local media reported a series of explosions on site.NBC Philadelphia said the "massive" blaze at the 335,000 barrels per day Philadelphia Energy Solutions refinery was visible from miles away and triggered explosions that were felt as far away as South Jersey.The crude section at the Girard Point portion of the refinery was shut down due to the fire, intelligence provider Genscape said.There were no immediate reports of casualties at the complex, which the NBC affiliate said employs around 1,000 people.A company spokeswoman was not immediately available for comment.Three fire stations and a hazardous materials response crew were mobilised, the fire depart

Central Texas College Awarded Navy Education Contract

The US Department of Defense inform that Central Texas College, Killeen, Texas, is being awarded a $9,410,083 indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, firm fixed-price task orders contract for the provision of education courses to sailors, both instructor led and distance learning, to include courses for academic skills, undergraduate and graduate levels. The contract will include a one-year base period and four one-year option periods, which if exercised, will bring the amount to $48,898,382. Work will be performed onboard various Navy ships (64 percent); San Diego, California (15 percent); Norfolk, Virginia (15 percent); Mayport, Florida (2 percent); Bremerton/Everett, Washington (2 percent); and Yokosuka, Japan (2 percent), and work is expected to be completed Sept. 30, 2015.

Alion Awarded Navy Contracts

The Navy Warfare Development Command awarded Alion Science and Technology three contracts, totaling $16.3m, for technical support services for the Joint Semi-Automated Forces program (JSAF), non-JSAF-related modeling and simulation work and networking and system administration support. The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contracts, which were awarded on July 1, each include a base year and four, one-year options. If all options are exercised, the total contracts would be worth $86.6m. Under the Lot I contract, Alion will provide technical support tasks related to JSAF, the Navy’s core simulation tool used for training and experimentation.

Booz Allen Hamilton Awarded $8.7m Contract

Booz Allen Hamilton, McLean, Va., is being awarded an estimated $8.7m multiple award contract to provide non-personal engineering and technical services in support of the Navy Warfare Development Command, Fleet Forces Command and its components as they relate to their mission of Concept and Doctrine Development and Coordination, SEA TRIAL Coordination, Experimentation, Analysis, and Modeling and Simulation in support of Navy transformation.This contract contains options, which if awarded, would bring the total estimated value of the contract to $46,475,489.
