Van Oord concluded 2023 with revenue reaching record high and profits more than doubled.The company saw revenue growth across both its Dredging & Infra and Offshore Energy business units, which resulted in a significantly revenue increase of 42% to EUR 2.9 billion from EUR 2.0 billion in 2022.Net profit doubled to EUR 127 million from EUR 60 million in 2022. New CEO Nominated for Royal Van Oord

The Supervisory Board of Van Oord intends to nominate Govert van Oord as the new CEO of Van Oord. The formal appointment will take place at Van Oord's Annual General Meeting of Shareholders on April 11, 2024.The Board is pleased to be able to transfer the leadership of the family business from the 4th to the 5th generation Van Oord family.Govert van Oord has been with Van Oord since 2002 and has worked for the company in the Middle East, Spain and Brazil, among others. He is currently responsible for the Dredging & Infra Business Unit as Managing Director.

Keel Laid for Van Oord's Offshore Wind Turbine Installation Vessel Boreas

A keel laying ceremony was held Tuesday for the wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV) Boreas, being built for the Dutch marine and offshore services firm Van Oord.The ceremony took place at the YCRO yard in Yantai, China.The Boreas will be able to operate on methanol and will be capable of installing wind turbines of up to 20 MW capacity. The vessel, ordered in October 2021, will be 175 meters long and be able to lift more than 3,000 tonnes.

Dutch marine services company Van Oord has appointed Meike Salvadό-de Reede to the position of Chief People Officer (CPO) in its Executive Committee as of November 1, 2022. Wartsila Steps Up Green Fuel Push with Methanol-powered Ship

Van Oord Orders WTIV for 20MW Offshore Wind Turbines

Dutch marine and offshore services company Van Oord has ordered a new offshore wind turbine installation vessel that will be able to install next-generation wind turbines of up to 20MW. Van Oord Orders 'Green' Cable Layer for Offshore Wind Operations

Dutch offshore contractor Van Oord has ordered a "green" cable-laying vessel from the Norwegian shipbuilder Vard. The ship will be built in Tulcea, Romania and Brattvaag, Norway for scheduled delivery in 2023.The vessel, equipped with the latest sustainable technologies, and expected to be fully operational in 2023, is targeted for deployment in the burgeoning offshore wind market. The new DP2 vessel will be based on the VARD 9 02 design and equipped with a below-deck cable carousel and a second carousel on deck, with a total cable-carrying capacity of 8,000 tonnes.

Van Oord: Christening of SRI Vessel Bravenes Marks Jubilee Year

The latest addition to the Van Oord fleet was unveiled Monday 21 May at the Wilhelminakade in Rotterdam. Subsea rock installation (SRI) vessel Bravenes was christened by Ms Yvon van Oord-Barbier, the wife of CEO Pieter van Oord. The well-attended christening ceremony marked the start of a two-day event celebrating Van Oords 150th anniversary. The Bravenes is the third vessel to join Van Oord’s SRI fleet. SRI vessels stabilise and protect subsea pipelines, cables and other structures at depths down to 1,500 metres. Van Oord invests in innovative techniques and ultra-modern equipment such as the Bravenes to maintain its leading position in this market. The Bravenes is an innovative vessel in its class because of its unique ability to install rock in three different ways.

Sharp Contrasts in Markets Impact Van Oord

The year 2017 was dominated by the difficult market conditions in the dredging and oil & gas sectors, says Pieter van Oord, CEO, Van Oord, the Dutch contracting company that specializes in dredging and land reclamation. The global contractor specialising in dredging, marine engineering and offshore projects (oil, gas and wind) said that the volume of work in offshore wind was stable, and the market dynamic in the offshore wind sector will generate a lot of opportunities for years to come. "The transition to renewable energy is taking shape and the construction of offshore wind farms is a growing market in which we have an strong reputation," Pieter said.

Van Oord 2017 Revenue Dips

Van Oord reported slight drop in its revenues for 2017 having realized of EUR 1.53 billion (2016: EUR 1.71 billion) and a net result of EUR 78 million (2016: EUR 90 million). In particular, the turnover of the group's dredging activities was low from a historical perspective (EUR 923 million, 2016: EUR 1.18 billion). The offshore wind sales amounted to EUR 403 million and remained virtually the same as last year's level (EUR 394 million). Despite the poor market, sales in offshore oil and gas increased to EUR 204 million (2016: EUR 130 million), thanks to a number of large projects in our niche markets. The net result amounted to EUR 78 million (EUR 90 million in 2016). The decrease was mainly related to a lower level of activity in the company.

Van Oord to Acquire Activities of Ballast Nedam Offshore

Van Oord has reached agreement on the acquisition of the activities of Ballast Nedam Offshore. The acquisition consists of the assets of Ballast Nedam Offshore, the dedicated EPCI staff (Engineering, Procurement, Contracting and Installation), heavy lift installation vessel Svanen and the Westermeerwind project (144 MW). The activities will be integrated into Van Oord’s Offshore Wind Projects business unit. The acquisition will strengthen Van Oord’s leading position in the offshore wind market for north west Europe. This acquisition is part of Van Oord’s strategy to expand its Offshore Wind Projects business unit. The demand for energy of the growing world population is rising constantly.

Van Oord’s new DP2 cable-laying vessel, Nexus, was officially launched at Damen Shipyards Galati on June 30. Van Oord’s offshore installation vessel Aeolus is operational

Van Oord is holding a two-day event along the Rotterdam Wilhelminakade quay to mark the entry into service of Aeolus, its first transport and installation vessel for the construction of offshore wind farms. Today, business relations have the opportunity to inspect the vessel. On Saturday 21 June, Mrs K. Aboutaleb-Erahoutan, wife of the Mayor of Rotterdam, will be naming the vessel in the presence of guests and Van Oord staff. The vessel was built at Sietas, a German shipbuilding yard in Hamburg. The innovative and advanced transport and installation vessel has a length of 139 m, 38 m in the beam, a design draught of 5.7 m and a cruising speed of 12 knots. The vessel is equipped with a crane that can lift more than 900 tonnes and has accommodation facilities for 75 crew.

Offshore Wind Farm Contract for Van Oord

Van Oord has been awarded the construction contract for the offshore windpark Luchterduinen, off the Dutch coast. The wind farm will be located 23 kilometres from the Dutch coast between Noordwijk and Zandvoort, and the contract is signed with the joint venture Eneco-Mitsubishi Corporation. The 43 wind turbines will have a combined capacity of 129 Megawatts and will generate green electricity for nearly 150,000 households. Construction will start in July 2014 and will be completed after the summer of 2015.

Van Oord's Dredger Named 'Artemis'

The vessel will be ready in the first half of 2013. The contract for the vessel’s design, construction and delivery was signed on 20 December 2010. The Artemis is a sister vessel to the Athena, which was delivered at the end of 2011. Since Van Oord took receipt of the Athena, it has deployed the large cutter suction dredger successfully on various projects. Construction of the two ships has been a major boost for the Dutch economy. Owner: Van Oord
