Court Orders Seizure of GP Global's Oil Tanker Over Loan Default

An Indian court has ordered the seizure of a tanker belonging to Dubai-based oil trading firm GP Global after a petition from UAE lender National Bank of Fujairah over a loan default, a court document showed.The Gujarat High Court directed the authorities of Pipavav Port on Sept. 9 to seize the company's bunkering tanker, GP B3, and detain it until a further court order or until the outstanding loan amount of just over $2 million is paid, a court document seen by Reuters shows. The next hearing is on Sept. 17.GP Global said last month it had appointed restructuring experts after failing to reach a deal with its lenders over debt restructuring.

India's Largest Box Port Hit by Cyber Attack

Operations at one of three terminals at India's largest container port JNPT, near the commercial hub of Mumbai, have been disrupted by the global ransomware attack, the port said on Wednesday. The affected terminal is operated by Danish shipping giant AP Moller-Maersk, which said on Tuesday that the cyber attack had caused outages in its computer systems globally. Clients were notified on Wednesday morning that vessel operations at the terminal would be hit and that the company could not say when normal services would resume, according to one shipping industry source. The port has been trying to clear containers manually, but operational capacity has dropped to a third at the terminal, Anil Diggikar, chairman of Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT), told Reuters on Wednesday morning.

APM Terminals Pipavav Q1 Net Zooms 60%

APM Terminals Pipavav’s (Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd) today posted a 60 per cent rise in standalone net profit to INR 59.75 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2016 on the back of lower expenses. The company had posted a net profit after tax of INR 37.23 crore for the same period a year-ago. Profit from operations for the quarter under consideration stood at INR 75.1 crore as against INR 74.6 crore in Q1FY16. EBIDTA for the quarter was at INR 100.2 crores and EBIDTA margin stood at 60%. The Container cargo business for the quarter stood at appx. 172k TEUs, Bulk business was at 600k MT and Liquid business was at appx. 128k MT. RoRo business was appx. 11k units for the quarter under review.

APM Terminals Pipavav Completes Expansion

APM Terminals Pipavav (Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd) reports it has completed its capacity expansion project on time and within budget, increasing its annual container throughput handling capacity from 850,000 TEUs to 1.35 million TEUs. As part of the expansion plan, APM Terminals invested around Rs. 400 crore. APM Terminals Pipavav Welcomes INDFEX Service

APM Terminals Pipavav (Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd), one of western India’s gateway ports, today announced the commencement of the INDFEX service at Pipavav. The INDFEX ( India – Far East Express ) is run in consortium with Wanhai, K-Line, Shipping Corporation of India, Pacific International Lines ( PIL ) & Simatech, with Wan Hai deploying two vessels, and the others deploying one each. The service provides a weekly connection between the Far East and India. The first vessel m.v. WANHAI 509 berthed at Pipavav at 1048 hours / 14 March, 2016. Officials of APM Terminals Pipavav accorded a grand welcome to the vessel and her crew, captained by Capt. Ma Ke Zeng. The operations were carried out successfully, using the new Post Panamax cranes, recently installed at the port.

HOEGH ANTWERP at Pipavav Port. HOEGH ANTWERP berthed at Pipavav Port in late January, 2016, to load Ford’s small and midsized cars, being exported from its Sanand plant in Gujarat. APM Terminals Pipavav Project Profit

January 28, 2016: APM Terminals Pipavav (Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd), operating one of western India’s gateway ports, reported a net profit of INR  533 million for the quarter ended 31st December 2015 as against INR 531 million in the previous quarter. Income from operations for the quarter ended 31st December 2015 stood at INR 1,521 million as against INR 1,404 million for the previous quarter. EBIDTA for the quarter was INR 1,001 million and EBIDTA margin stood at 61 %. APM Terminals Pipavav Launches Double Stack Rail Service

APM Terminals Pipavav (Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd) one of western India’s fastest growing gateway ports, has commenced a new weekly double stack rail service to the industrial center in Faridabad in north India’s Haryana State, near the Indian Capital City of New Delhi. The dedicated double stack operations, which can efficiently carry two containers placed one on top of another in specially designed rail cars, will be operated in association with Gateway Rail and NYK India. Known as "Sakura II", the service will operate between Pipavav Port and ICD-Faridabad (Piyala)/ICD-Garhi Harsaru, covering a distance of 1,015 km (630 miles) exclusively for Japanese NYK Shipping Line.

APM Terminals Pipavav Handles 10,000 TEU vessel

Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd (APM Terminals Pipavav) announced the successful berthing of the largest container vessel with capacity of approximately 9,971 TEUs in the history of the port. Maersk Saltoro is the largest container ship (981 feet long) ever to call at APM Terminals, one of western India’s fastest growing gateway ports. Port Pipavav Berths its Largest Box Ship

APM Terminals Pipavav (Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd.), a gateway port in western India, has berthed the largest container vessel in the Port Pipavav’s history, the terminal announced today. Maersk Saltoro, a containership with approximately 9,971 TEU capacity and overall length of 299 meters, was berthed at Pipavav Port today by the port’s marine team. Part of first India’s first Public Private Partnership (PPP) Port, APM Terminals Pipavav said it has expanded its capacity for handling larger vessels and cargo, with infrastructure capabilities to handle container, bulk and liquid cargo.

APM Terminals Pipavav Starts New Ro/Ro Service

With 1,300 new Indian-built Ford automobiles loaded onto the Grand Dahlia on August 27th for delivery to Mexico, a new era for the Indian auto industry and Gujarat Port Pipavav commenced. The 59,217 gross ton roll on/roll off (Ro/Ro) vessel was the first to call Western India’s fastest-growing port, operated as part of the APM Terminals Global Terminal Network. APM Terminals Pipavav announced the inauguration of Ro/Ro operations at the multi-purpose port last June after concluding an agreement with Japanese-based NYK subsidiary NYK Auto Logistics (NAL) India for finished car export services and the construction of a new automobile services terminal.

RoRo Operations Start at APM Terminals Pipavav

APM Terminals Pipavav (Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd) and NYK Auto Logistics (India) today announced the commencement of RORO operations at Pipavav Port. Ford Motors India Pvt Ltd dispatched the first lot of its new Ford FIGO built in its Sanand plant in Gujarat for exports. The first RoRo vessel, m.v.Grand Dahlia, berthed at Pipavav on August 26 and loaded 1,300 vehicles. Officials from APM Terminals, NYK Auto Logistics and Ford Motors welcomed the vessel and marked the inauguration of RoRo operations with a simple ceremony held on board. The vessel departed this morning after successful completion of operations. APM Terminals Pipavav currently has three business verticals under its service portfolio which include container, bulk and liquid cargo.

Strike Ends at Mumbai's GTI Container Terminal

Contract workers at an Indian port in the commercial capital Mumbai have called off their nearly a week-long strike that backed up more than 25,000 containers of commodities such as sugar, pulses and rapeseed meal. Pipavav Port Resumes Operations

Gujarat Pipavav Port (APM Terminals Pipavav) has resumed operations following improvement in weather conditions. Last week, the port operations were suspended due to the cyclonic weather conditions and breakdown of power supply and communication. Thousands of containers, majority of them, bound for northern states, have piled up at the port. The port announced on Sunday that the operations have been resumed following the improvement in the weather conditions. It also said that both the port officials and the railways are working round the clock to start the rail movements again at the earliest. Pipavav Port is the first PPP port in the country and owned by the AP Moller-Maersk Group. Restoration of the badly-damaged railway track that connects Pipavav Port with Surendranagar began.

Gujarat Pipavav Port Profit Jumps 16%

Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd. (APM Terminals Pipavav), operating one of western India’s fastest growing gateway ports, today reported a 16% jump in net profit for the fourth quarter ended 31st December 2014, as against INR 771 million in the corresponding quarter last year mainly driven by an increase in reefer cargo exports as well as increase coal and fertilizer imports. Commenting on the results, APM Terminals Pipavav Managing Director, Mr. Prakash Tulsiani said: “Our container cargo is in the same range as the corresponding quarter of the previous year as we had an exceptionally great Q4CY13. Indian Ports: Private Vs Government

Rising competition from fast growing private sector ports is forcing government-controlled major ports to re-invent themselves, reports Business Standard. Slowdown in India's international trade is adding to the woes. The government-owned port trusts had been used to near monopoly revenues and profits from 'grateful' exporters and importers. These ports are now finding it difficult to fill their berths as newer ports are willing to sing in customer's tune. A recent report from JOC stated that chronic capacity constraints and infrastructure woes at some state-owned ports spur the diversion of cargo and vessels to nearby minor ports. The gainers have been large private sector ports such as Adani Ports, Pipavav Port and Vadinar Port among others.

APM & NYK Plan RoRo facility at Pipavav

APM Terminals operated Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd (APM Terminals Pipavav) and NYK Auto Logistics (India) today announced setting up of a dedicated automobile yard (RoRo) at Pipavav Port. Under the arrangement, NYK Auto Logistics (India) Pvt. Ltd. has been sub-leased land parcels by Gujarat Pipavav Port inside its premises for developing a dedicated common user integrated RoRo terminal with India’s first port based PDI and Vehicle Processing Center. Gujarat Pipavav Port will provide all the port and related facilities to the logistics operator for ensuring smooth and seamless flow of automobile cargo. Hamburg Süd Opens Office in India

Hamburg Süd announced the opening of an office in Gandhidham, India, on October 1, 2014. It is the second branch office in the state of Gujarat. Hamburg Süd already has three offices in Mumbai, New Delhi and Ahmedabad. Effective October 1, 2014, Ahmedabad and Gandhidham office will take over all commercial activities including marketing and sales, customer order management and day-to-day operations in Gujarat from Seabridge Maritime Agency. Aegis Logistics commissioned ahead of schedule

Aegis Group, a Leader in Oil, Gas and Chemical Logistics, announced successful early commissioning of the 70,120 KL Bulk Liquid Terminal at Pipavav port on West coast of India. Shipping Majors Expand Cooperative Setup

The CMA CGM Group announced a new cooperation setup with current partner Maersk Line, APL and OOCL on three existing Far East to Indian Subcontinent services (CIMEX 2/FM3, CIX, CIX3), starting in February 2014.
