Chinese Shipbuilder Orders TMC Compressors
Chinese heavy-duty equipment manufacturer Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC) has contracted TMC Compressors of the Seas to supply a marine compressed air system for a new pipelay vessel.TMC will supply a major marine compressed air system consisting of 4 x working air compressors, 4 desiccant air dryers, 2 x instrument air compressors and desiccant air dryers, 4 x starting air compressors, 4 x high pressure compressors for the vessel’s tensioning system, plus 4 x high pressure air dryers. TMC has not disclosed the value of the contract.“As our scope of work suggests, this is a sizeable contract for us, for a large and impressive pipelay vessel.
Imtech Completes Three Offshore Ships
Imtech Marine, specialized in system integration, successfully completed three innovative new-build vessel projects in Singapore; Seven Borealis for Subsea 7, Rockpiper for a subsidiary of Royal Boskalis Westminster NV and Flintstone for Tideway, part of the DEME Group. The ships will all operate in the oil and gas market. Imtech Marine has combined specific capabilities of its offices in Rotterdam, Shanghai and Singapore. The supply package for two of the three ships includes advanced dynamic positioning (DP), diesel electric propulsion, vessel management (VMS), automation, navigation and communication. The design and engineering was done in Rotterdam, production in Shanghai and installation & commissioning by the Imtech Marine team in Singapore.

Torch Offshore LLC is a Gretna, La-based integrated offshore contractor whose niche market is the installation of small diameter flow lines and related infrastructure on the Continental Shelf in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM). In 2002, the company had revenues of $68 million, laying 227 miles of pipe. Torch Offshore operates a fleet of nine vessels that lay the pipe and/or support this activity. The company is in the process of converting two large vessels that will give the company the ability to compete in the deepwater segment pf the market.
