IOOC Launches First PIMS
Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC), a subsidiary of the National Iranian Oil Company, has successfully launched its first offshore pipeline integrity management system (PIMS) in the Iranian oil industry.According to IOOC, the system was launched in order to comply with international and national requirements for the standard, safe and continuous operation of the Salman Oilfieldās gas pipelines with a Norwegian company and the Pipeline Technology Company. The project is dubbed as the first of such projects in the Iranian offshore oil industry, said a report in Iran News.A Pipelines Management System (PMS) provides a clear process, with tasks and responsibilitiesā¦
DNV GL Releases New Guidelines for Submarine Pipelines
Depending on the interaction between the pipe and soil, submarine pipelines, both exposed and buried, may be subject to severe displacements and impaired pipeline integrity. Soil characterization and pipe-soil interaction assessment are therefore important parts of any pipeline project. DNV GL now launches a new recommended practice (RP), DNVGL-RP-F114 āPipe-soil interaction for submarine pipelinesā, solely dedicated to the interaction between the pipeline and the soil. Pipe-soil interaction assessments are usually far more complex and there can be more uncertainty on the results compared to traditional foundation design. This is due to limitations in soil data along the pipeline routeā¦
Standardization for Cost Effective Pipeline Innovation - DNV GL
Growing global energy demand and requirements for additional pipeline capacity are driving the pipeline segment. However, pipeline related innovation is prioritized by only 4% of senior oil & gas professionals, according to research by DNV GL, the technical advisor to the oil & gas industry. Further, the research shows that nearly one in five oil & gas companies (18%) do not have a strategy in place to maintain innovation. Six in ten (61%) respondents agree that operators will increasingly push to standardize their delivery globally, up from 55% in 2015 and 52% in 2014. The most common strategy for maintaining innovation with lower budgets is to increase collaboration with other industry players (45%).
Intertek Presents Corrosion Solutions at NACE
Intertek, the global provider of quality and safety services, will address key topical issues at the NACE Corrosion 2014 conference this week. Corrosion costs $276 billion annually in the U.S. alone and is often responsible for damage, downtime and the costly replacement of vital industrial infrastructure on a global scale. Experts from Intertekās corrosion solutions team will present six papers on current topics that affect the oil and gas and a range of other industries globally at NACE Corrosion 2014. The event will take place at the Henry B Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas, between March 9-13. Raymond Pirie, Vice President of Exploration and Production services at Intertekā¦
New Synergi Pipeline Software Enables GIS Integration
DNV GL Softwareās new release of Synergi Pipeline software includes Geographic Information System (GIS) integration, providing pipeline operators better analyses and decision-making based on geographically referenced and visualized data via the web interface. Obtaining and managing correct and valid information about a pipelineās risk and condition, including linked geographic information, is a constant challenge in integrity management. Synergi Pipeline, DNV GLās pipeline integrity management and risk assessment software solutionā¦
Deadline Looms to Apply for Subsea Tech Funding
ITF is calling on technology developers to come forward with innovative solutions to drilling, well intervention and subsea challenges, with the potential for successful proposals to receive up to 100% funding. Submission deadlines are fast approaching for three global calls for proposals, following the identification of key priorities at a series of Technology Challenge Workshops (TCWs) by ITF members earlier this year. The calls for drilling and well intervention solutions follows on from two workshops held in Amsterdam earlier this year, where a number of operators and service companies identified the shared challenges where they would like to see innovative technologies developed.
2011 IMarEST Arctic Shipping and Offshore Technology Forum
This fall, the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) will sponsor the IMarEST Arctic Shipping and Offshore Technology Forum 2011, including the 1st Annual IMarEST ClassNK Lecture. The conference, to be held in central London, will consider Arctic Shipping Technology on Wednesday, October 5, and Arctic Offshore and Energy Technology on Thursday, October 6. The 1st Annual IMarEST ClassNK Lecture will take place on the first day of the conference. Professor John Carlton FREng, Professor of Marine Engineering, City University London and the 109th President of IMarEST, will chair the first day of the conference. āOur packed and stimulating first day of the Arctic Forum ends with the inaugural Annual IMarEST ClassNK Lecture, to be delivered by Mr.

WA Petitions Against LNG Terminal License
In this case, Ecology argues the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) prematurely awarded a license in September to Northern Star Natural Gas for a liquefied natural gas terminal and pipeline that impacts Washington and communities. The proposed pipeline route for the Bradwood Landing project would cross the Columbia River and extend 17 miles underground through . Federal law requires FERC to perform a detailed environmental impact review. Ecology takes issue with the adequacy of FERC's review which guided the Commission's license decision. Rather than wait for FERC's decision on the request for rehearing, Gov. Chris Gregoire directed Ecology to help conduct a thorough environmental review through the State Environmental Policy Act.
