ABB's Shaft Generator System for Northern Lights CO2 Carriers

ABB will deliver the shaft generator system with permanent magnet technology for the first dedicated CO2-storage vessels ever to be built. Chinese Yard Orders ABB Propulsion System for Giant Offshore Wind Installation Vessel

China's Yantai CIMC Raffles Shipyard has ordered an integrated power, automation, and propulsion system from ABB for a newbuild offshore wind installation jack-up vessel (JUV) being built for the Dutch marine contractor Van Oord.The vessel, Boreas, is due for delivery to the owner in the second part of 2024, and it is said that it will be one of the largest and most technologically advanced hybridized units of the type in operation, measuring 175 meters in length. Gibdock Gets Strategic with HMS Scott

Gibdock’s strategic location has been brought into sharp focus with the docking of HMS Scott, the largest vessel in the Royal Navy's Hydrographic Squadron, for a recent 19-day maintenance period at the Gibraltar yard. Work took place as part of the MOD UK’s Commercially Supported Shipping (CSS) Teams Through Life Support (TLS) contract with main contractor Babcock. The TLS contract, which runs to 2018, includes fleet time maintenance, design services and spares management. “Recent world events suggest that the Royal Navy will highly prize support from strategically-located facilities that can deliver vessels back into service on schedule and to high quality standards,” said Richard Beards, Gibdock Managing Director.

Njord Offshore Implements Maintenance Software

U.K.-based Marine Software Ltd. delivered Marine Planned Maintenance software to Njord Offshore, to manage planned maintenance activities for their 21-meter crew transfer vessels (CTVs) Njord Avocet and Njord Kittiwake. These two vessels are purpose built for the Offshore Windfarm Industry in a series of vessels managed by Njord Offshore. Designed by naval architect’s BMT Nigel Gee and built by Strategic Marine, these vessels are the first of six which are designed, surveyed and classed to DNV + IAI HSLC R2 Wind Farm Service 1 notation.

Tallink-Silja Installs MPM Upgrade for STA

Project "Systemtillsyn" is a way for the Swedish transport agency to devolve a large portion of their survey responsibility to the crews on Swedish flagged vessels. The Swedish Transport Agency has a survey guide book (THB) which contains all 480 survey items applicable to most types of Swedish flagged vessels giving surveyors guidance for each survey. As most survey items are already covered by their MPM - Marine Planned Maintenance PMS system, Tallink asked Marine Software to integrate this additional STA survey requirement with the existing planned maintenance database.
