Russian Navy Gets Admiral Makarov Frigate

Baltic Shipbuilding Plant “Yantar” (United Shipbuilding Corporation, Kaliningrad) has delivered the Admiral Makarov frigate, third ship of Project 11356, to Defence Ministry of the Russian Federation. According to the shipyard, the acceptance/delivery certificate has been signed today, 25 December 2017, by Eduard Yevimov, Yantar Director General, and Capt 1 rank  Aleksey Poteshkin, Chairman of State Acceptance Commission. Admiral Makarov was laid down in early 2012 in Kaliningrad and was launched in 2015 to commence sea trials. The vessel became the third Admiral Grigorovich-class frigate after Admiral Essen, which was commissioned in June.

Russian Shipbuilders Ask for $100M More for Indian Frigates

According to a report from RioNovosti, Russian shipbuilding plant Yantar has asked Russia's state arms exporter, Rosoboronexport, for an additional $100m to complete construction of three frigates for the Indian Navy, Russian business daily Kommersant said Dec. 16. (Source: RioNovosti)

Yantar to Build Oceanographic vessel for RF DM

Yantar Shipyard in Kaliningrad started building an oceanographic vessel for the Russian Federation Defense Ministry (RF DM), according to a report on Itar-Tass. Reportedly designed by the Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau -- a leading Russian Naval Company designing fast speed missile and patrol ships and boats – the 5200-ton vessel will measure 108 x 17.2 m, and will be commissioned in mid-2013. According to the news agency report, Yantar Shipbuilders are currently building the Seliger research vessel of project 11982, planned to be commissioned in June 2011. The Baltic shipbuilding plant Yantar in Kaliningrad was founded on July 8, 1945. It is specialising in the building of small- and medium-tonnage civilian and military ships and vessels, as well as in conducting ship repairs.
