Crowley Receives Heavy-Lift Deck Barge in Singapore

Crowley Maritime Corporation’s solutions group announced today that it has received the first two of potentially four, new heavy-lift, ballastable deck barges (HDBs) for use by clients in the Asia-Pacific region. These new barges, which will be contracted and managed from the company’s recently opened Singapore office, allow Crowley to better support regional customers in the oil and gas mining; Engineering, Construction and Procurement Management (ECPM); and Engineering, Procurement, Installation and Commissioning (EPIC) industries who are increasingly embarking on large-scale onshore and offshore projects. These new 400-foot-long, 120-foot-wide (122 meter x 36.5 meter) HDBs, named HDB 01 and HDB 02 are moored in Batam, Indonesia.

Crowley Solutions Raises Asia/Pacific Profile

Crowley's project management organization, 'solutions', will soon expand its presence in Asia Pacific market with new office and construction of up to four dedicated heavy-lift deck barges. Because of changing market conditions and a commitment to proactively support customer needs, Crowley Maritime Corp. ’s solutions group is expanding its presence in the Asia Pacific market by opening a new project management office in Singapore and building two new heavy-lift deck cargo barges for dedicated use in the region. The company also has an option for the construction of two additional barges.

Crowley’s Solutions Group Appoints VP

VP brings experience in offshore oil & gas, LNG, engineering and other maritime related industries. Crowley Maritime Corporation’s solutions group recently named Farhad Rajabi vice president of its project management team. He will work out of the group’s Houston office and report to Craig Tornga, Crowley’s vice president of solutions. Rajabi’s new role will leverage his 30 years of experience in project management and other marine solutions fields to establish objectives, plans, policies and procedures for the project management department.

Crowley Maritime subsidiary Titan Salvage appoint Michael G. Johnson Vice-President of Business Strategy & Process. Johnson will report to TITAN’s Managing Director Rich Habib, and will be domiciled in the company’s Houston office. In his new role, he will be responsible for assisting with the administration and running of TITAN, focusing on strategic issues to help further grow the business. “It is very exciting for us to have Michael on our team, especially during a time of continued growth and international expansion in our company,” said Habib.

Jensen Maritime Consultants, Crowley Maritime Corporation’s naval architecture and marine engineering firm, continues to grow its new office in the New Orleans business district with the hiring of Senior Administrator Lauren Gulkus. Reporting to General Manager Sergio Fifi, she is the latest addition in a string of recent hires positioned to fully staff this new office with industry leading expertise. In her new role, Gulkus will be responsible for project and departmental administrative duties, while also assisting in the development and documentation of business procedures.

Crowley’s First Ocean Class Tugboat Performs Inaugural Job in Cuba

The first of four Crowley Maritime Corporation ocean class tugboats, Ocean Wave, completed its inaugural project earlier this month by removing a grounded containership from the northern coast of Cuba. The job is additionally significant because it utilized many of Crowley’s unique capabilities, equipment and established relationships with Cuban entities and government to complete the job quickly despite many challenges. The project’s success hinged on a coordinated and timely response from Antilliana De Salvemento, the Cuban salvage company which subcontracted Titan Salvage, Crowley’s Pompano, Fla.-based emergency response, marine salvage and wreck removal company, and Houston-based T&T Marine Salvage, to assist with the removal of the stricken containership.

Captain Alex Sweeney joins Crowley’s Solutions Group as Vice President, Project Operations. Sweeney, who most recently served as vice president of operations for Crowley’s petroleum distribution group in Alaska, will remain in Anchorage and report to Michael Johnson, vice president, project management. In his new role, Sweeney will be responsible for the planning, coordination and management of select solutions projects. He will also assist the solutions business development team in pursuing project opportunities.

Todd Busch: SVP and General Manager, Technical Services at Crowley Maritime Corporation. Todd Busch joined Crowley as an ordinary seaman in 1986, earning his masters’ license working aboard company tugboats before coming ashore in 1994 as a tug dispatcher. Since then, he has held a variety of positions with increasing responsibility within the firm. Today, the 24-year Crowley veteran is a member of the company’s senior leadership team, reporting directly to Crowley CEO Tom Crowley. Based at Crowley’s headquarters in Jacksonville, FL, he is responsible for several of the company’s business enterprises including the project management organization PMOrg (known as Crowley solutions), as well as subsidiaries Titan Salvage, Jensen Maritime Consultants, and Intrepid Ship Management.
