GC Rieber Shipping Delivers 'Polar Onyx' to New Owners

Norwegian offshore vessel firm GC Rieber Shipping has delivered the SURF / Construction vessel Polar Onyxto the new owners.GC Rieber Shipping first announced the agreement to sell the vessel to Taiwan-based offshore wind service conglomerate Dong Fang Offshore and Hung Hua Construction back in December 2021."The vessel has today been delivered to the new owner," GC Rieber Shipping said Thursday.The sale of the vessel, built at Ulstein Verft in 2014, includes the VLS tower onboard the vessel

GC Rieber Sells Polar Onyx Vessel to Taiwanese Offshore Wind Venture

Oslo-listed GC Rieber Shipping has agreed to sell its SURF / Construction Vessel Polar Onyx to Taiwan-based offshore wind service conglomerate Dong Fang Offshore and Hung Hua Construction.The delivery of the vessel, built at Ulstein Verft in 2014, is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2022. The sale includes the VLS tower onboard the vessel. "Polar Onyx has since delivery proven herself as a solid and valuable asset in the SURF market. Starting out in Brazil in 2014, the vessel has performed robust operations on three continents on great depths.

GC Rieber Shipping Nets Extension for Polar Onyx, Sells Polar Queen Vessel

Norwegian shipowner GC Rieber Shipping has won a contract extension for its Polar Onyx vessel with DeepOcean. Separately, the company said Monday it had agreed to sell the Polar Queen vessel."GC Rieber Shipping has agreed with DeepOcean BV to extend the charter of the SURF vessel Polar Onyx until the end of May 2021," the company said.The extended period will be in direct continuation of the ongoing charter in Ghana, which started in January 2018.Separately. GC Rieber Shipping said it had agreed to sell its IMR / Walk-to-Work vessel Polar Queen

GC Rieber Shipping Secures Contract for Polar Queen

Norwegian shipping company GC Rieber Shipping has entered into a time charter agreement with a European offshore client for the CSV vessel Polar Queen for a fixed period of four months with options to extend by up to one month. With this charter, all GC Rieber Shipping subsea vessels have secured contracts for the summer season 2018. The Polar Queen will be used in British sector to perform walk-to-work duties and commencement will be in May 2018. "We are pleased to see Polar Queen build on her success in the walk-to-work market and secure a new substantial charter with a Tier 1 client. With this charter, GC Rieber Shipping is sold out for the summer of 2018.

GC Rieber Bags 3 Year TC for Polar Onyx

Norwegian offshore shipowner  GC Rieber Shipping has entered into a time charter agreement with Deepocean BV for the SURF vessel Polar Onyx for a fixed period of three years with options to extend by up to two years. The Polar Onyx will be used in Ghana to support Deepocean's contract with Tullow Oil. Commencement is immediately and mobilization has begun. "We are very pleased to have secured a long-term charter agreement with Deepocean where we maintain a position to benefit from improving market conditions. The Polar Onyx proves yet again its market attractiveness being selected for the first long term subsea charter in a while. We look forward to servicing Tullow Oil in close cooperation with our client Deepocean", said GC Rieber Shipping CEO, Christian W. Berg.

GC Rieber Gets Extension for 'Polar Onyx'

Norwegian offshore shipowner GC Rieber Shipping has entered into an agreement to extend the fixed contract period for "Polar Onyx," according to a press release. The agreement secures the ship until the end of August 2017. It had won the initial contract for the vessel in early March. At the time, the company said that the charter would see the vessel continue operating in West Africa. Polar Onyx is a high capacity flexible piplay and subsea construction vessel built for harsh conditions and deep waters. The vessel is designed to operate in the SURF/Construction/IMR market. GC Rieber Shipping’s business within offshore/shipping includes ownership in specialized vessels, high quality marine ship management and project development within the segments subsea, ice/support and marine seismic.

Rieber Amends Dolphin Deal

Norwegian shipping company GC Rieber Shipping ASA has entered into an agreement with Dolphin Geophysical to increase Dolphins competitiveness in a challenging market. Rieber has agreed to take early redelivery of the survey vessel Polar Duke from Dolphin  as part of an overall restructuring agreement. The deal will reduce $16million of hire payments for GC Rieber. Together with Dolphin’s improved terms of bank loans and reduced charter rates on Dolphin’s vessels from fellow Norwegian shipping firm Sanco, the deal will significantly improve Dolphin’s costbase. In addition, GC Rieber Shipping will grant Dolphin a rolling credit facility of USD 5 million, consisting of payments due to GC Rieber Shipping. The credit facility is effective for 9 months.

ULSTEIN Reports ‘Good Results’ for 2014

Ulstein Group said it achieved a “good result” for 2014, with an operating turnover of NOK 2.7 billion compared to 2013’s NOK 2.3 billion. Meanwhile, the group’s operating profit of NOK 184.1 million comes in under the NOK 317.8 million operating profit for 2013, while the 2014 operating result before tax of NOK 167.7 million is again lower than NOK 360.8 million for 2013. “We are pleased with last year’s figures. Today’s market is tough, and we are preparing for even harder times to come. There will be major demand for restructuring and change,” said CEO Gunvor Ulstein.

The Ceona Amazon has been internally designed at Ceona and purpose built to perform in multiple pipelay and operational modes. She also features a large storage capacity and heavy subsea construction capability with her versatility setting her apart as a deepwater field development asset.

Polar Onyx Readies for Brazilian Depths

The offshore construction vessel Polar Onyx was delivered on March 4, 2014 from Ulstein Verft to GC Rieber Shipping, as the latest addition to their growing investments into the subsea segment. The vessel’s first assignment will be to work for deepwater projects serving as pipelay support vessel for Petrobras offshore Brazil. The 130-meter long and 25-meter wide Polar Onyx is based on ULSTEIN’s SX121 design, a design which is generally designed to operate in the IMR/SURF construction market, with high capacity for flexible pipe cargo below deck and on main deck. Rentocean to Supply Offshore Brazil Project Cable Carousel

RentOcean, a 100 percent owned subsidiary of Oceanteam Shipping ASA, has been awarded a contract to supply Ceona with a certified 2000t modular carousel system and a loading tower with built-in 15t tensioner for a one-year project plus option for one additional year. The carousel and the additional equipment will be used on Ceona's Polar Onyx vessel for the installation of flexibles, which will take place in 2014 and 2015 offshore Brazil. RentOcean will also supply technicians to ensure smooth operations.
