Jo-Kell Acquires Advanced Technical Sales

Jo-Kell Inc. announced it has completed its acquisition of Advanced Technical Sales (ATS).Located in Pompano Beach, Fla., ATS is a distributor of industrial electrical and automation products to the southern Florida area, with a focus on technical expertise and providing custom engineered solutions. WORK Microwave Transforms Maritime SatCom

WORK Microwave has announced the results of its technology demonstration with Intellian and Telesat to increase the reliability, performance, and throughput of broadband for maritime applications. Recently, the companies successfully tested a high-throughput data link from Mount Jackson, Virginia to Pompano Beach, Florida using WORK Microwave's AX-80 wideband modem, the Intellian v150NX 1.5m Ka-band wideband antenna, and the Telesat T19 VANTAGE High Throughput Satellite (HTS).

Global Boatworks Sells Luxuria

Florida-based Global Boatworks Holdings, builder of luxury floating vessels, announced that it has entered into a contract to sell the Luxuria I, the first of its luxury floating vessels.The Luxuria is going through a marine survey and other inspections as part of the sale process, said the multifaceted boat-building and vacation-rental company that operates out of Pompano Beach.“We are very excited to have a contract for the sale of the Luxuria,” said Global Boatworks CEO Robert Rowe.“We have a number of showings and a lot of interest. Treasure Hunters Find $4.5 mln in Rare Spanish Coins

Florida treasure hunters found a trove of $4.5 million worth of Spanish gold coins 300 years to the day after a fleet of ships sunk in a hurricane while en route from Havana to Spain, the salvage owner said Wednesday. The 350 coins found on July 30 include nine rare pieces, known as royal eight escudos, which were being transported to the King of Spain, according to Brent Brisben. His company, 1715 Fleet - Queens Jewels, owns the rights to the wreckage. Only 20 such coins were known to exist prior to the recovery of the nine royals, Brisben said.

USCG Search for Pompano Beach Diver Near Ft. Lauderdale

Coast Guard crews and other agencies are searching for a missing diver after he never resurfaced one mile east of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Saturday. Missing is Marc Raroha, 45, from Pompano Beach, Florida. Coast Guard received initial notification from the captain aboard the pleasure craft Advocat at 4:45 p.m., stating that Raroha went diving with two others, they resurfaced but he did not. Coast Guard assets involved in the ongoing search are: Coast Guard Air Station Miami MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter crew. Coast Guard Station Ft. Lauderdale smallboat crews. Coast Guard Cutter Dolphin. Ft. Lauderdale Police, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Committee and Broward County Sheriff's deputies are also assisting in the response.

Titan and T&T Cooperate for Salvage on Chilean Coast

Crowley Maritime Corp. subsidiary Titan Salvage, based in Pompano Beach, Fla., and its partner T&T Salvage, a maritime emergency and salvage company based in Galveston, Texas, recently completed a challenging wreck removal project off the coast of Chile. Arduous GoM Drill Rig Salvage Accomplished

Inland Salvage successfully delivers salvaged jack-up drill rig which sank last winter in the Gulf of Mexico. In mid-December 2012 a retired jack-up drill rig under tow from Fourchon, LA to be dismantled in Texas began taking on water. Despite being in the crowded waters of the oilfield, the tow captain was able to maneuver the sinking rig into a little used section of the Vermillion Block where the seas finally washed over the main deck and forced the rig to the ocean floor.

Keenan Joins TITAN Salvage as Director of Operations

Patrick Keenan has joined the TITAN Salvage team as director of operations, bringing more than 20 years of worldwide, hands-on experience in naval architecture, marine engineering, salvage and marine pollution abatement. In his new position, Keenan will report to Managing Director Rich Habib and will be based in the company’s Pompano Beach, Fla., headquarters. TITAN is a Crowley Maritime Corp. subsidiary. Prior to joining TITAN, Keenan, who is a bilingual English-Spanish speaker, spent four years as the supervisor of salvage and diving, and director of ocean engineering for the U.S.

Dometic Group Announces Global Reorganization

Formerly President of Dometic Marine, Frank Marciano has been appointed President of Dometic Americas for all divisions after Dometic Group announced a global reorganization and restructuring. The new management and business structure was enacted by the company’s global CEO, Roger Johansson, and was effective from February 1. Marciano, who is based at the Marine headquarters in Pompano Beach, Florida, is a 22-year employee of Dometic. The marine business continues to be an important part of his new role.

Rich Habib has been appointed vice president of Titan Salvage with responsibility for the company's overall performance, including operations, administration, finance and commercial activities. He is domiciled at Titan's headquarters in Pompano Beach, Fla., and reports to Todd Busch, Crowley Maritime Corporation's senior vice president and general manager of technical services. Titan is a Crowley subsidiary. "I am very pleased to welcome Rich back to Titan," said Busch. "He began as one of our jack-up barge superintendents and then became a salvage master.

Obituary: David Parrot, Founder and Former Chief, TITAN Salvage

David Gray Parrot, 65, founder and former chief of TITAN Salvage, passed away in Maine in the comfort of family and friends. Parrot is survived by his wife Penny, sons Hunter and Gage, and a network of friends and family. A private family service is scheduled for this weekend in Maine. TITAN Salvage’s New Facility in Singapore

TITAN Salvage has enhanced its marine emergency response and wreck removal capabilities in the Far East with the consolidation of its Southeast Asia operating facilities in Singapore. New Luxury Marine in Pompano Beach

South Florida boaters have a new place to store their investments with the opening of Aquamarina Hidden Harbour in Pompano Beach. It’s the first newly constructed conventional dry storage marina in the region in more than a decade and the first in Broward County since a three-year moratorium on new commercial marina construction was lifted in 2007. Aqua Marine Partners (AMP), a vertically integrated marina company based in Aventura, Florida, designed, developed, constructed and will manage the marine facility that cost $8m to construct.

Titan Salvage Caps Busy First Quarter

With the arrival of calmer springtime weather, Titan Salvage has resumed wreck removal operations in Gibraltar on the New Flame following a busy first quarter in which the company responded to eight salvage opportunities. Among them were the re-floating of the bulk carrier Fedra's forward section in Gibraltar, the re-floating of a general cargo vessel grounded on environmentally-sensitive coral reefs of southern Belize; and the safe delivery of a tank ship involved in a collision and fire off the coast of Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
