Port agency and marine services company Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) announced the appointment of Svend Stenberg Mølholt as Chief Commercial Officer, effective January 9, 2024.Svend has been in the shipping industry for 20 years, most recently serving as the Group COO in Monjasa Holding, a global fuel and shipping company. While serving as the Group COO, Svend also held the position of Chairman of the Board at RelateIT, one of Denmark’s largest NAV/Business Central partners.

Port agency and marine services company Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) announced it has appointed Harun Duzgoren as the regional chief executive officer for the Americas, effective September 1, 2023.Duzgoren brings to the role 23 years of managerial experience in the global marine services industry. Prior to joining ISS, he served as the chief commercial officer of Subsea Global Solutions. Before that, he spent 16 years at V.Group, where he held various senior international positions.

Port agency and marine services provider Inchcape Shipping Services announced it has appointed Anna Evangelidis as its new Chief Operating Officer, effective June 6, 2023.Evangelidis brings with her a wealth of experience, having previously worked at BP, Saipem and LR (Lloyds Register), where she held various positions as a naval architect, pipeline engineer, procurement, and other operational leadership roles. Wilhelmsen to Buy Vopak Agencies

Wilhelmsen Port Services has entered into an agreement with Vopak to acquire 100% of maritime services provider Vopak Agencies and 50% of Diize. "Vopak Agencies and Diize are highly complementary and a perfect match for the global reach of Wilhelmsen Port Services’ maritime network of 2 200 ports," Wilhelmsen Port Services said.Wilhelmsen said that Vopak Agencies had a strong track record within both hub services and port agency within the tanker segments in Europe and extensive experience within their field.

Inchcape Reopens Its Guam Office

Having recently reopened its Guam office after a three-year hiatus using a partner agent, Inchcape Shipping Services resumed direct control over all operational matters on the Pacific island.Inchcape had a permanent presence in Guam since the 1990s but opted to close its office on the Pacific island in 2018. “Given the volume of business in Guam at that time, it made better financial sense to use a partner agent instead. Madagascar Boat Accident: Death Toll Rises to 64

At least 64 people have died in a boat accident off the coast of northeastern Madagascar and searches were underway for 24 missing passengers, the maritime agency said on Wednesday.Fifty survivors were found, the Maritime and River Port Agency said.The vessel, a cargo ship that was not authorized to transport people, was overloaded and water flooded the engine, said Mamy Randrianavony, director of operations at sea at the Maritime and River Port Agency (APMF).It sank late on Monday night with 138 people onboard, APMF said.

Cargo Ship Illegally Carrying Passengers Sinks off Madagascar

A vessel accident off the coast of northeastern Madagascar killed at least 19 people, and searches were under way to locate 66 passengers who remained unaccounted for, the country's maritime agency said on Tuesday.The vessel, a cargo ship that was not authorized to transport people, was overloaded and water flooded the engine, said Mamy Randrianavony, director of operations at sea at the Maritime and River Port Agency (APMF).There were 130 passengers on the ship, travelling from Antanambe to Soanierana Ivongo, and 45 were found alive."Searches are under way to locate the other passengers.

BIMCO, FONASBA Launch General Agency Agreement

BIMCO and FONASBA have once again joined forces to create and launch a new general agency agreement for port agents, shipowners and ship operators contracting port agency services. The new standard contract, which can be downloaded from the FONASBA website and BIMCO’s IDEA, formalizes and sets out clear terms for any agreements made, for the benefit of both sides. Drawn up by the group responsible for drafting the Agency Appointment Agreement which was released earlier this year, the new contract is easy to use and can readily be adapted for single use or a long-term contract. Parties can select their requirements from a list of functions such as sales and marketing, port or general agency and husbandry and can agree other services to suit their needs.

FONASBA, BIMCO launch Agency Appointment Agreement

FONASBA and BIMCO have launched a new Agency Appointment Agreement document. This new form, which is based on BIMCO’s tried and tested box layout, provides a simple, clear and effective means of confirming the details of an agency agreement for an individual or short series of port calls. Many agency appointments are agreed on the basis of a telephone conversation or simple exchange of emails and this new form formalises that exchange by clearly setting out the details of both parties, the basis of the remuneration and, importantly, stating the responsibilities and obligations of the parties to the agreement. The agreement was drafted over a period of some eight months by a small group comprising senior members of FONASBA and BIMCO.

ISS Expands Business with Team Tankers International
