Keppel to Operate Mexican Yard with PEMEX

Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M) has strengthened its foothold in the offshore and marine industry in Mexico with the signing of an MOU (memorandum of understanding) with PEMEX Exploracion y Produccion (PEP) and P.M.I. Norteamérica, S.A. de C.V. (PMI), both subsidiaries of Mexico's national oil company, Petroleos Mexicanos (PEMEX). The MOU is to jointly develop, own and operate a yard facility in Mexico, the first phase of which is to support the construction of six KFELS B class jackup drilling rigs for PEP. AAPA Recognizes 34 Ports

Thirty-one ports received 56 Communications awards, and four ports were recognized for outstanding Environmental programs during the October 3 awards luncheon at the American Association of Port Authorities' (AAPA) Annual Convention in Québec City, Québec. AAPA's Annual Communications Competition recognizes excellence in the products and services that ports produce to meet their public relations and marketing goals. The independent judges, communications professionals from the Washington, D.C., area, honored the best entries with 38 awards of excellence and 18 awards of merit. The winner of the Award of Overall Excellence was the Port of Portland, Oregon, which received awards of excellence or merit for five entries.

Altamira Pilots Train at MSI

Pilots from the port of Altamira, Mexico, attended special training at MarineSafety International's Newport Simulator Center from October 1 to 5, 2007. The training used a full mission bridge as an LNG carrier and a smaller simulator as a 55 tonne ASD tug.
