Liebherr Maritime Cranes recently delivered a new mobile harbor crane, type LHM 550, to the Port of Helsingborg. In addition, Container Terminal St. Petersburg got two machines of the same type. All three machines are equipped with electric prime movers. Lithuania’s Klaipedos Nafta has signed a deal with the port of Helsingborg to cooperate on the HEKLA – Helsingborg & Klaipeda LNG infrastructure facility deployment project (HEKLA). Klaipedos Nafta has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Spanish Association of Natural Gas for Mobility (GASNAM) to cooperate on the standardisation of LNG bunkering operations. According to the agreement with port of Helsingborg, Klaipedos Nafta acquires the right to use the financial support of EUR 6 million of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) part of the EU financing program, approved by Coordination Committee for the construction of its liquefied natural gas onshore reloading station.

The Peene shipyard in Germany successfully completed a new series that was part of an order obtained during insolvency. The coast guard vessel (Kustbevakningen Vessel) KBV 034 was handed over to the Swedish Coast Guard, with a reflagging ceremony at dock 2 of the Peene shipyard in Wolgast, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The Swedish Coast Guard originally placed the order for a total of four new coast guard vessels in 2008.Two of the coast guard vessels were already delivered in June and July of 2012. After the Peene shipyard filed for insolvency, that contract had to be reaffirmed.

The world's first hybrid reach stacker, developed by Konecranes, is soon to be available in the UK through Cooper SH. With a 45 tonne lifting capacity, the new SMV 4531 TB5 HLT features a hybrid diesel/electric driveline, an electrified hydraulic lifting system, and a super capacitor based energy storage - significantly cutting fuel consumption and emissions. Estimated fuel consumption will be around 10 liters/hour during normal handling of fully loaded containers, significantly less than with conventional reach stackers.
