France-based Haropa port expects maritime trade with India to grow at double digit this calendar year after having reported 7% growth in 2016, said Herve Martel, , CEO - Port of Le Havre & President- HAROPA ports. “We have received encouraging response from the Indian policy makers as also from port, shipping lines & Indian trade during our four day visit to India and we hope to build upon this momentum with increasing French investments taking place in India,” Martel said at the concluding leg of the multi city road show that took place in Delhi, Chennai, Ahmedabad and finally in Mumbai. There are over 1,000 French subsidiaries, including Sanofi, Arkema, Dassault, Alstom, Total etc, in India.

Swahili Express service will be dedicated to Kenya and Tanzania markets with very fast transit times. Mombasa will be reached from Mundra in 12 days and Dar Es Salaam in 14 days. Noura Express service will have an improved transit time to Somalia by 4 days. Mogadishu port will be reached in 7 days from Jebel Ali and in 17 days from Mundra. SWAHILI service:  As from m/v CHIEF at Nhava Sheva on February 24th, 2017, Swahili service will be operated with 4 vessels. We will add Mombasa direct call in complement to the current Dar Es Salaam call. The port coverage at origin will be upgraded with 2 direct port calls in India. Longoni and Zanzibar calls are discontinued.

APL today announced the launch of a new weekly service - the India Pakistan Europe (IPE) Service, directly connecting the key South Asian markets of India and Pakistan to major ports in Europe. The new IPE service builds on APL’s strong market presence and local expertise in India and Pakistan to enhance its Asia-Europe service offerings. “Europe is a premier trading partner and a major export market of South Asian countries. It is opportune that we expand our service coverage in Asia-Europe through the new IPE service, directly linking the major economies of India and Pakistan to Europe. As APL offers market connectivity, our priorities are also to provide reliable and timely cargo shipments across all regions,” said Eric Eng, APL Head of Asia Europe Trade.

CMA CGM Group announced the launch of two new weekly services, EPIC 1 and EPIC 2, between the Arab Gulf, Pakistan, North West India and North Europe. The current Epic service will make room for the two new weekly services. EPIC 1 offering a direct connection between North Europe and Pakistan – North West India. • EPIC 2 offering a direct connection beetween North Europe and United Arab Emirates, Pakistan and North West India. The ship operators on both services allow CMA CGM to increase its departure frequency between the Indian subcontinent and North Europe, and enrich its ports coverage. In India with the addition of a weekly call in HAZIRA. In the United Kingdom with three weekly calls ( Southampton and Felixstowe on EPIC 1, London Gateway on EPIC 2).

CMA CGM has announced the strengthening of its current MIDAS service by cooperating with PIL under a new Vessel Sharing Agreement. A fleet of 11 vessels of 3,500 TEU nominal capacity will be deployed, and CMA CGM will contribute to the majority with 9 vessels. It also announced the strengthening of its coverage of India on its SWAHILI EXPRESS service deployed on the India Middle East Gulf - Eastern Africa and Indian Ocean route. In India, MIDAS will extend its coverage with a weekly call at Nhava Sheva direct to West Africa, South Africa and Reunion Island in addition to the present Mundra call. Luanda is reached from India in 22 days, Pointe Noire in 25 days, Apapa in 30 days and Cotonou in 31 days.

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) announced launch of the new China/West Coast India service (CIS). As part of our objective to continually improve their services to customers, MSC has included a new mainline call to Hazira from July 2015. MSC Tomoko will be the first vessel to call at Hazira on 2nd July 2015. Seven MSC 9,000 TEU vessels will be deployed on the upgraded service, offering fixed day weekly service to and from Hazira. Port Rotation: Nhava Sheva-Hazira-Mundra-Salalah-Gioia Tauro-Valencia-Rotterdam-Antwerp-Felixstowe-King Abdullah- Salalah-Port Qasim-Nhava Sheva. MSC has been serving Hazira Port with a dedicated feeder since early 2013, when this port opened for operations. Now, with a direct mainline call, MSC reaffirms its commitment to customers in India. Transit times and final scheduled departures will be communicated shortly.

APM Terminals Mumbai welcomed China Shipping Container Line’s HS Paris on March 20th, on her maiden call as part of the Middle East-Indian Subcontinent-North America (MINA) Service, jointly operated by the United Arab Shipping Company, Hanjin Shipping, CMA CGM and China Shipping. The 6,500 TEU capacity HS Paris completed 1,292 import and export moves in approximately 12 hours, for a berth productivity of 106 moves per hour. The MINA Service operates on fixed-day weekly sailing linking KhorFakkan, Jebel Ali, Port Qasim, Nhava Sheva (APM Terminals Mumbai), Mundra, Jeddah, Port Said East, Livorno, La Spezia, Genoa, Fos, Barcelona, Valencia, Tangier, New York, Norfolk, Savannah and Miami.

The container terminal at India's largest port of Nhava Sheva, also known as Jawajarlal Nehru Port near Mumbai, will be partially shut down for six weeks from the beginning of March to install new harbor cranes. The work in expected to impact normal operating conditions alongside the main container berth and the shallow draft berth. Normal operations are expected to recommence in early May. The port authority will not be in a position to operate at full capacity, but are making arrangements with affected vessel operators to find alternate solutions. Shipping lines have been advised to reroute ships to other Indian west coast ports, including Mundra, Pipavav or Hazira. There are two other terminals working in Nhava Sheva, the NSICT and HTI, which are fully working at this time.

Speaking on the sidelines of the conference on “Salvage and Wreck Removal” organized by Hinode Events and Services Pvt Ltd., Bas Wiebe informed that while Svitzer had experts mobilizing their back office and making the assessment, they have their own vessels and equipment in India which they use.

CMA CGM Group is pleased to announce that its EPIC service is now calling Piraeus on its way from North Europe to Indian subcontinent and the Middle East. CMA CGM Group will also be able to meet, via Piraeus, the growing demand of its Turkish customers to markets in the Indian subcontinent and the Middle East. Loaded from the Turkish ports of Hayderpasa Gebze Avcilar and Gemlik, containerized goods will reach Jebel Ali via Piraeus between17 and 19 days. The first vessel to start the rotation from North Europe is the CMA CGM ROSSINI, planned to call Piraeus on May 31st.

Effective from 5 January 2011, Hamburg Süd will expand its presence in the trade between Asia and India/Pakistan by joining the new service operated in cooperation with Evergreen and Simatech. The new service (ASIP 2) will deploy 6 x 2,700 TEU (nominal) vessels and has the following port rotation: Xingang – – – – Hong Kong – – Tanjung Pelepas – Port Kelang – Nhava Sheva – – – Port Kelang – Tanjung Pelepas – – Xingang. APL launched a new East Africa Express (EAX) service. The weekly EAX service will connect the Indian subcontinent and Arabian Gulf to East Africa. Trade from the Far East bound for East Africa will depart from Colombo, Sri Lanka, and Nhava Sheva in India. The port at Nhava Sheva will also serve cargoes originating from the Indian subcontinent and Arabian Gulf, alongside ports in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.
