Polish Seaborne LPG Import Growth Slowed to 7% in 2023

LOOP Did Not Deliver Sour Crude from Storage in September

The Louisiana Offshore Oil Port (LOOP), the largest U.S. privately owned deepwater crude terminal, said on Friday it made no deliveries of sour crude from storage last month, following two storms that hit the U.S. Gulf Coast.The facility closed on August 28 ahead of Hurricane Ida, which damaged production and processing facilities in the U.S. side of the Gulf of Mexico, forcing the suspension of millions of barrels of crude and gas output. Tanker Crew Rescues Seven from Sinking Fishing Vessel

An tanker picked up seven crew embers from a sinking fishing vessel in the Gulf of Finland.While en-route from the Port of Ust-Luga to Copenhagen on February 6, the tanker SСF Angara received a distress signal from the Russian fishing trawler Pongoma, which was sinking on the traverse of Tallinn, 26 nautical miles offshore, SCF Group said on Monday.The tanker and her crew, under the leadership of master Alexey Maksimovsky, responded to the request for help, and following the instructions received from the rescue center in Tallinn, diverted to assist the ship in distress.During a rescue operation, all seven members of Pongoma’s crew were brought aboard the tanker. Two fishermen in need of urgent medical care were then evacuated by helicopter to Helsinki.

Gazprom, Shell Discuss LNG Projects

A working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Maarten Wetselaar, Member of the Executive Committee of Royal Dutch Shell, took place in St. Petersburg. The meeting addressed relevant aspects of strategic cooperation. Particular attention was paid to joint efforts in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector. The parties discussed the construction project for the third train of the LNG plant on Sakhalin Island and the progress of the Joint Study Framework Agreement for the Baltic LNG project. The meeting also focused on the Nord Stream 2 project. Gazprom and Shell are jointly engaged in the Sakhalin II project, which includes Russia's only active LNG plant. The Sakhalin II operator is Sakhalin Energy Investment Company Ltd.

Bunkering First for Gazpromneft Marine Bunker

Gazpromneft Marine Bunker Ltd performed its first delivery of marine oil to the vessel operated by Chevron in Ust-Luga port. The delivery was arranged with cooperation with Gazpromneft-Lubricants – the Gazprom neft’s oil and lubricants business operator – as a part of its agreement for integration into the Chevron’s global supply network. Gazpromneft West bunkering vessel delivered 13.5 tonnes of TARO 40 XL 40 X marine oil to Seamarlin crude oil tanker (DWT 40549 tonnes). The agreement with Chevron was reached in 2012 and provides production of marine oil under the Chevron brand at Omsk and Moscow oil refineries as well as deliveries of these oils within the territories of Russia and the Baltic states.

Russia's Urals Export Higher from Baltic, Down from Novo

Russia is seen increasing its exports of Urals crude oil from its Baltic ports in August, while shipments from Novorossiisk on the Black Sea are expected to decline, a preliminary loading schedule showed on Friday. On the Baltic, Urals exports from Primorsk are expected to rise to 3.3 million tonnes from 2.9 million tonnes this month, while the neighbouring port of Ust-Luga is seen handling 2 million tonnes of Urals next month, up from 1.9 million tonnes in July. Exports from the Black Sea port of Novorossiisk are seen at 2.09 million tonnes in August, down from 2.18 million in July.   (Reporting by Natalia Chumakova)

Med Crude-Russian Urals Weakens in Mediterranean

Russian Urals crude weakened in the Mediterranean on Monday and paper swaps showed potential for the grade to lose further ground in August. In the Platts window, Litasco offered an 80,000 tonne cargo in the Mediterranean at dated Brent minus 65 cents, some 20 cents weaker than previous price estimates, but found no buyers, traders said. Urals August swaps showed prices could weaken to dated Brent minus 60 to 75 cents in the Mediterranean and by some 10-15 cents in the Baltic from the current levels of dated Brent minus $1.20-1.30 a barrel. "It looks like August could be similar or slightly shorter than July in terms of volumes. So prices will most likely remain range-bound," said a trader with an oil major.

Med Crude-Urals Stronger in Baltic as Surgut Sells Cargoes

Russian Urals crude price differentials strengthened in the Baltic in a spot tender on Tuesday after loading schedules confirmed scarce export volumes for May. There was no deals in the Platts window, traders said while adding that trader Talmay won spot tenders by oil firm Surgut to lift two cargoes of Urals loading at the Baltic port of Ust-Luga. The price for cargoes loading on May 15-16 and 21-22 was pegged at around dated Brent minus 85-90 cents a barrel, when adding freight to the original FOB-basis price, some 20-25 cents stronger than previous price estimates. Talmay was believed to have resold barrels to China's Unipec, traders added. On Monday, a loading schedule for Russian Baltic Sea ports showed the total number of cargoes dropping to 53 in May from 62 in April.

Russian Baltic Oil Exports to Surge in New Year

Exports of Russian crude oil blend Urals will rise sharply in January from the Baltic Sea ports on the back of a government decision to cut export duties, a preliminary export schedule showed on Tuesday. Russia will raise crude oil exports from Primorsk to 3.6 million tonnes in January from 2 million tonnes in December. The neighbouring port of Ust-Luga will increase Urals exports to 2.2 million tonnes next month from 1.672 million tonnes scheduled for loading in December. Russia's Surgut to Export Baltic Diesel

Surgut to transport diesel by rail from its Kirishi refinery; Main diesel terminal in Primorsk reaches full capacity. Surgutneftegas will start exporting diesel from the Baltic port of Ust Luga next month after extensive modernising upgrades to Russian refineries have created a surplus of higher grade fuels, traders said. Russian refiners are struggling to find new ports to cope, with the Baltic's Primorsk already at full capacity. Surgut, Russia's third-largest oil producer, plans to transport diesel by rail from its 420,000 barrels-per-day (bpd) Kirishi refinery in northwest Russia to Ust Luga. From there it will be exported from the Sibur-Portenergo terminal owned by Sibur, Russia's top petrochemical company, the trading sources said.

Baltic Med Crude-Urals Weakens, Opens Arb Options

Russian Urals crude weakened in the Baltic on Wednesday due to a number of unsold cargoes while Kazakh CPC continued to strengthen due to a lack of sweet barrels. In the Platts window, Trafigura bought a cargo of Urals from Eni at dated Brent minus $1.30 a barrel, some 35 cents weaker than previous price estimates, traders said. Total bid for a cargo of CPC at dated Brent minus 40 cents, some 10 cents stronger than previous price estimates. The price of Urals in southern Europe moved closer to parity with dated Brent due to an absence of Iraq's Kirkuk crude, strong demand and attractive refining margins, traders said. Urals differentials in the Mediterranean were between minus 20 cents per barrel and parity with the North Sea benchmark, traders said Tuesday.

Stena Polaris Completes Northeast Passage

After 35 days at sea, the Stena Polaris has arrived at the port of Yousu in South Korea. She has sailed via the icy and harsh Northeast Passage along Russia’s northern coast. After arriving at her final destination, the ship was celebrated with representatives of the South Korean government, the corporate management of both Hyundai and the Stena Group and the port authorities attending. The Stena Polaris began her voyage on September 17 in the port of Ust Luga in the Gulf of Finland with a cargo of 44,000 tons of naphtha.

New Hapag-Lloyd Feeder Service for Baltic Region

Hapag-Lloyd will launch its new Finland Express Service (FIX) on April 2 to improve links between the Baltic region. The feeder service will connect Russia, Finland and Sweden with Hamburg and Bremerhaven, the two major North German hubs in Hapag-Lloyd’s worldwide service network. These two ports offer links to a total of 26 direct mainliner services operated by Hapag-Lloyd from/to Asia, the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent, North and South America, Africa, Southern Europe and Australia. With the new FIX service, Hapag-Lloyd will offer its clients a second weekly departure from/to key Finnish and Russian ports, complementing its existing Russia Express Service (REX) which was launched last May.

New Liner Services Between Hamburg, Russia

Starting in November 2011, two new feeder line services will be scheduled for regular sailings between the Port of Hamburg and Russia. The shipping company Team Lines will be using the RUS 2 Service in the Hamburg – St. Petersburg – Hamburg – Bremerhaven – Hamburg rotation to augment its RUS 1 service handled by its own vessels with capacities of OOCL for containerised shipping to this key market region. The first ship will be sailing from Hamburg on 7 November. The Swan Container Line has also included Hamburg in its weekly schedule for its St. Petersburg service. On the Hamburg – St. Petersburg – Rotterdam – Hamburg rotation, two 900 TEU container vessels link Germany’s largest seaport with Russia.
