Boluda Tows World’s Largest Container Ship

Tugs from Boluda Towage Spain, the towing division of Boluda Corporación Marítima, have recently towed the largest container ship in the world in and out of the port of Algeciras.Built this year, the MSC MINA a has 23,756 TEU capacity and is powered by 228,741 GT. The ship called at the port of Cadiz during its maiden voyage from the Chinese port of Xingang to northern Europe, a service operated jointly with Maersk.The containership with the greatest container-holding capacity in the world was towed upon arrival at the Bay of Algeciras on 4 September by the tugboats VB JUANGONZALEZ, VB TITAN, VB TRON and VB ANDALUCIA, all belonging to the Boluda Towage Spain fleet in Algeciras.After unloading the containers with the help of six cranes…

23,756 TEU “MSC Gulsun" Transits Suez Canal

Admiral Mohab Mameesh, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority and Suez Canal Economic Zone, announced the successful transit of MSC GULSUN, the world’s largest container vessel, on its first trip through the New Suez Canal. Pacific International Lines Start Service in Far East - Red Sea Routes

Pacific International Lines (PIL), Singapore’s leading containership operator, announces two upgraded weekly services on the Far East – Red Sea service route. Done in collaboration with Ocean Alliance, the routes named RSS and RES will commence operations in March 2018, superseding the current three services RSS, RS3 and RS5. The route will be operated with a series of 17 x 11,000 to 14,000TEU vessels including its latest newbuilds, the 11,923TEU P Class in the service. The highly efficient and versatile P Class were purpose-built for Red Sea, with a ballast water treatment system fitted onboard and various energy saving measures implemented in its design. The enhanced Red Sea service will extensively cover North Asia and South East Asia with direct connections to the main Red Sea markets.

MSC Introduce 'Lone Star Express' and 'Amberjack' to the Transpacific Trade

Swiss headquartered Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has announced two new services alled the ‘Lone Star Express’ which will operate between Asia and the US Gulf. This new service will become a new Gateway to/from the US Gulf in anticipation of increased demand. At the same time, MSC’s Everglades service will be renamed ‘Amberjack’ and restructured to include a call to New York, this change ensures both services will operate at optimum efficiency. All changes will be in effect from the first week of May 2016 (departing Asia). The Lone Star Express and Amberjack will continue to be supported by the America and Empire services currently in operation. MSC now provides four weekly services between Asia and the East Coast of the United States.

Rickmers-Linie Transports Railway Cranes to China

Rickmers-Linie, the Hamburg-based liner carrier for break bulk, heavy lifts and project cargoes has again been chosen by Kirow for the transportation of railway cranes from Hamburg to Xingang. The shipment in August marked the continuation of a long-standing relationship between the two companies. The shipment contained six cranes of the type KRC 2880, with 20 more units of the type KRC 1680 are to follow into 2015. Kirow has been a long-term supplier of the Chinese railways. The company has already delivered a number of railway cranes for the ever expanding railway network in China.

Hamburg Süd Expands Presence in the Asia-India/Pakistan Trade

Effective from 5 January 2011, Hamburg Süd will expand its presence in the trade between Asia and India/Pakistan by joining the new service operated in cooperation with Evergreen and Simatech. The new service (ASIP 2) will deploy 6 x 2,700 TEU (nominal) vessels and has the following port rotation: Xingang – – – – Hong Kong – – Tanjung Pelepas – Port Kelang – Nhava Sheva – – – Port Kelang – Tanjung Pelepas – – Xingang. With the calls in Xingang, and , ASIP 2 will complement the already existing service (ASIP 1) which likewise deploys 5 x 2700 TEU (nominal) capacity and has the following port rotation: – – Hong Kong – – Port Kelang – Nhava Sheva – Pipavav – – Port Kelang – – Hong Kong – .

Human Smuggling Operation Uncovered on West Coast

There may be links between the case of 36 illegal Chinese immigrants found on a container ship here on Tuesday and a similar human smuggling operation uncovered last week in Long Beach, California, Canadian officials said. A Canadian Customs official said it was "highly likely" the two smuggling attempts were connected, but police said they had not confirmed the same smugglers were involved. Both attempts involved hiding the human cargo in squalid shipping containers designed for freight. The containers in which the migrants were found in Vancouver were bound for Long Beach. Canadian immigration officials have begun interviewing the 36 stowaways…
