Damen TSHD Launched at Krasnoye Sormove Shipyard

A Damen Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) 1000 was launched at the Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard on January 29. The TSHD, named Sommers, is the lead vessel of a series of three TSHDs 1000 being built for Rosmorport. The TSHDs are scheduled for delivery this year, the contract between Rosmorport and Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard having been signed in April 2014. Keel laying of the Sommers was held in November 2014. The other two dredgers are to be named Kronshlot and Kadosh respectively.

Another Feeder Service from Hamburg

A new regular feeder service of the Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) shipping company now links Hamburg with St. Petersburg. Every 14 days the feeder ship Robert puts in at the container terminals of the Port of Hamburg as required. The service is offered by HHM in partnership with Team Lines, a subsidiary of the Belgian shipping company Delphis. The first departure of the Robert from Hamburg has already taken place, on 25 March 2009. Built at the Sietas dockyard in Neuenfelde, the ship is 441 ft long and 74 ft wide…

Kalmar Lands St. Petersburg Order

Kalmar Industries has received an order from JSC Sea Port St Petersburg, Russia, for 24 machines for delivery from May to September this year. The order comprises 12 forklift trucks with lifting capacities ranging from 10 to 32 tonnes, eight TRX182 terminal tractors, three reachstackers and one empty container handler. JSC Sea Port St Petersburg handled 11.8 million tons of cargoes in 2006, comprising metals, coal, chemical, timber and containers. The terminal operator has worked with Kalmar for more than 30 years. At present, it relies on more than 80 Kalmar machines to perform day-to-day handling duties. These include forklift trucks with handling capacities of up to 42 tonnes, reachstackers and terminal tractors.
