Ghana Ready For Maritime Crisis

From the sinking of the Titanic to the current piracy phenomenon plaguing the world's oceans, Maritime challenges requires a conserted and collaborative global effort at maintaining safety of live and protection of property at sea.To this the Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA) collaborated with its global partners from the European Uninon Gulf of Guinea Interregional Network (EU-GoGIN), and the Inter-Regional Coordination Centre (ICC) and organized a four-day crisis response training for security experts and players in the maritime sector.Participants were drawn from the Ghana Maritime Authority, Ghana Army, Ghana Navy, Airforce, National Security, National Disaster Management Organisation and Ghana Immigration Service.

ABB Wins Long-Term Service Agreement

Long-term service agreement improves lifecycle cost control and fleet reliability. ABB signed a long-term Preventive Service agreement with China LNG Shipping International Co. Ltd (CLSICO) to provide maintenance services to all ABB equipment onboard of its six LNG vessels in the next five years. The contract commenced January 1, 2013. The new service agreement will help CLSICO with optimized vessels performance at a predicted minimum level of budget. Star Cruises Signs Long-Term Contract

Long-term Preventive Service agreement will increase reliability and extend equipment life-time through scheduled maintenance procedures. ABB, an  automation technology group, has won a long-term service contract from Star Cruises for preventive maintenance of all ABB equipment onboard SuperStar Virgo for the next five years. The approximately US$ 1 million contract was signed in the fourth quarter of 2012 and commences in January 1, 2013. Star Cruises, the world’s third largest cruise company, has led cruise development in the Asia-Pacific region, where it operates seven vessels between the ports of Singapore, Port Klang (Malaysia) and Hong Kong. Star caters to Asian passengers as well as to North Americans, Europeans and Australians interested in Asian destinations.

ABB Wins Star Cruises Preventive Service Contract

ABB wins Star Cruises long-term service contract for preventive maintenance of all ABB equipment onboard 'SuperStar Virgo'. The approximately US$ 1-million contract was signed in the fourth quarter of 2012 and commences in January 1, 2013. The service contract covers periodic maintenance visits scheduled when they least disturb SuperStar Virgo operations. A long-term approach to maintenance and reduction in the variable costs caused by maintenance-related actions make budgeting more predictable.
