VTA is now Standard for MAN 51/60DF Engine

MAN Energy Solutions has announced that VTA (Variable Turbine Area) is now standard on TCA turbochargers for its MAN 51/60 engine type, marking the first time that VTA technology has been approved as standard for a large-bore MAN four-stroke engine. MAN Unveils New TCT Turbocharger

MAN Energy Solutions has unveiled its new TCT axial turbocharger series specifically optimised for Tier III operation, suitable for both conventional and dual-fuelled, two- and four-stroke engines.The TCT series has been introduced to accompany and – eventually – replace the TCA generation whose design has been continuously updated since its introduction but is now some 15 years old. The event took place at the premises of the local MAN PrimeServ Academy.With TCT turbochargers, MAN Energy Solutions can significantly reduce turbocharger dimensions to meet current market requirements. First SCR IMO Tier III Approval in Principle Awarded

MAN Diesel & Turbo reaches IMO Tier III milestone for entire four-stroke engine portfolio. At an awards ceremony held on April 15, 2015 at the PrimeServ Academy in Shanghai, MAN Diesel & Turbo SE was awarded approval in principle for its SCR system for the entire medium-speed engine portfolio fulfilling IMO Tier III regulations by the China Classification Society (CCS). Testing took place on an MAN 8L21/31 auxiliary engine with an integrated SCR system but the certificate applies to the entire medium-speed engine portfolio .

MAN Extends Helping Hand to Mercy Ships

MAN Diesel & Turbo says it has donated the equivalent of $115,000 dollars in service, spare parts and training to keep the engines of the hospital ship 'Africa Mercy', operated by Mercy Ships, in top condition to continue its charity work in Africa. MAN Diesel & Turbo continues its charitable support of the world’s largest civilian hospital ship which provides medical care in African coastal areas to those who couldn’t otherwise afford it. In 2010, MAN Diesel & Turbo provided at a significantly discounted cost four new 5L21/31 type on-board power generators to the vessel, to power the floating hospital’s medical equipment. AMOS for MAN PrimeServ Academy

MAN Diesel & Turbo reinforces its long-standing collaboration with SpecTec Group, selecting AMOS software as assisting training tool to be used at the MAN PrimeServ Academy in Copenhagen. With the intent to further improve its hands-on training courses, MAN Diesel & Turbo has chosen AMOS (CMMS platform owned and provided by SpecTec Group since 1985) as a teaching tool to show students how to manage and optimize the process of maintenance, inspection and spare part purchase on board vessels. The AMOS database for this project has been created automatically by importing MAN Diesel & Turbo engine data which is standardized in accordance with the Shipdex protocol (www.shipdex.com).

Shipdex Protocol Ready for Use

The 4th Shipdex Conference took place at the MAN Diesel PrimeServ Academy in Augsburg, Germany on Feb. 16, where the Shipdex protocol was declared ready and available for use. Shipdex (Ship Data Exchange) is international business rules (protocol) -based and fully compliant with S1000D, developed to standardize the exchange of electronic technical data within the shipping community. The Shipdex protocol aims to ensure a high quality of technical and logistical data and simplify the exchange of data within the industry. For application service providers, Shipdex is a basic specification for implementing data interfaces from technical manual solutions to maintenance and purchase or any fully fledged ERP systems.
