Monadelphous Bags Shell FLNG Contract
The engineering group Monadelphous has won a $200 million Shell Australia contract on its Prelude floating LNG project off the Kimberley coast. The contract is for major, long-term maintenance and modifications services for the Prelude Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) project in Browse Basin, 475km northeast of Broome in Western Australia. Monadelphous will provide maintenance, brownfield modifications and turnaround services to the LNG process plant, support utilities, hull and non-process infrastructure including accommodation and control rooms. The contract also includes the delivery of fabrication services from Darwin in support of offshore operations. The contract is for an initial seven years with a further two, 2 year extension options.
Shell's Olympus Platform Sails for GofM
Shell’s massive Olympus tension leg platform (TLP) sets sail from Ingleside, Texas for a 425 mile trek to its final home on the Mars Field in the Gulf of Mexico. For 10 days, tugboats will pull the over 120,000 ton platform to location where work will begin to secure the platform in place. The Olympus TLP will be moored to the seafloor by tendons grouped at each of the structure's corners and will float in approximately 3000 feet of water. Offshore Platform 'Olympus' Hull Texas-bound
Shell Offshore's main body of the 'Olympus' Tension Leg Platform (TLP) leaves South Korea aboard Dockwise ship. The approximately 32,500 metric ton main body of the Olympus TLP begins its two month journey to the U.S. Gulf Coast on Dockwise's Blue Marlin semi-submersible heavy lift ship. The hull is expected to reach Ingleside, Texas in early 2013 where installation of the topsides will take place before the TLP departs for its final location on the Mars Field in the Gulf of Mexico.
